I finally saw Jean-Luc Godard's Pierrot le Fou. The best scene was the "American soldier" v. "Vietcong girl" play. I feel like less of a poser now, and have one more reason for sticking to my view that the French New Wave and New German Cinema have much more adolescent testosterone and self-important philosophizing in them than any film movement really needs.
