And do you have time for being a ski patrol?
Well... eeerrrmmm.... that seems to be the big question. I'm going to take the kids skiing on Thursday and I am going to meet up with the Patrol Leader for lunch. I'll find out just how much time is expected.. I think they said 12 days / season. If that's all they need from me then YES, I think I can manage it. But I do realize that I have myself spread a little thin so I will make sure I don't commit to something I can't follow through on.

As for teaching the kids to skate... OMG, YES. it just makes winter so much more fun when you have something to do. It's just so long and boring if you're stuck in the house for the winter season. Winter has so much to offer if you're willing to bundle up and get out there.

Also, it's so much effort to do stuff outside in winter when they are little that the tenancy is to just say 'naw, maybe next year'. But in my opinion, if you don't get out there with them when they're little then it's just going to be that much harder for them to learn when they're older and then they're not going to want to do it. That goes for both skating AND skiing.
