Hello???? Is anyone there????

FRAK! I’ve been trying to post this update all week! LJ really pisses me off sometimes. I realize that they were victims of some sort of attack, but that seems to happen a lot around here.

Anyway, here’s a little update on me and my crew

Can’t believe another great week has come and gone. It feels as though time is going by so quickly that I’m in a time warp or something. I think I’ve said this before but sometimes I don’t think time just simply “flies”… I think Time has an FTL drive.

Last weekend was awesome. The weather was beautiful and we had a chance to do some family stuff, which was nice. Some cousins from Hubby’s side of the family were in town from Newfoundland so we all met up and I finally got to meet them all. Then we came back into town and went out for dinner. Hubby spent Saturday night in the tent with the boys, which totally made their weekend.

They left Timbits in the tent on Sunday morning though and Sierra, my Golden Retriever, ripped a huge hole in the bug netting at the front of the tent in an effort to get at them (she's very motivated by food... which is odd since she isn't really eating very well these days). I wasn't too impressed with that I must say.

I took a trip into town Tuesday morning to get a repair kit but I don’t think the mesh patch is going to be big enough… I going to have to bite the bullet and do some fancy sewing. Based on everything I’ve read online about tent repair, sewing is the best and most effective way to fix it anyway so…

My friend, Mel, came out with her little guy on Sunday afternoon for a few hours to swim. WOW... her little guy made my dudes look like angels. There were times that I felt like I was doing a candid appearance on 'Supper Nanny'. I kept having to bite my tongue in order to keep from offering a few bits of advice on discipline. BUT, I really hate it when other friends try to tell ME how to raise my kids so I kept my mouth shut... not my business. I will say though, if she doesn't reign him in a little she's going to be in trouble down the road.

We managed to finish the kitchen cupboards, which is super awesome. I wish I had taken before and after photos cuz it's really really nice. Makes the whole house look bright and clean. Now all we have left is the kitchen counter and sink. I think I'll try to convince Hubby to divert that project till the fall. First of all we don't really have the money right now and second, I'd like him to take a break. He's been at the kitchen for 3 weekends straight... it's time to enjoy summer a little and spend some of his free time doing fun stuff.

I keep waiting for Hubby to tell me when he can take some time off for a little summer getaway but he keeps responding with “Well, just tell me what you want to do and when you want to go.”

Ugh! I love how accommodating he can be but sometimes I just want HIM to take the wheel and make some decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I love our arrangement. But sometimes it feels like I do EVERYTHING…. Well, I guess that’s cuz I do… LOL

This complaint is kinda funny seeing as he just spent the past 3 weeks giving my kitchen a facelift but he really does have it good. All he has to do is bring home the paycheck… I do the rest. I take care of the outside, (cut the grass, tend to the gardens, pool maintenance, I even power-washed the house this spring) And the inside (pay the bills, houseclean, groceries, school-related stuff, doctor’s appointments… etc.) Then on top of all that I also have his two elderly parents who live around the corner from us and who constantly need to be taken to various appointments and such.

I love my job… I wouldn’t go back to working outside of the home for anything… but I am one busy lady. And it would be nice if someone else would just make the decisions every now and then.

Anyway…. As I was saying, I just wish he’d take charge every now and then and do the planning etc for stuff. But, it IS what it IS and it ain’t so bad so… I went out and bought a coleman stove today and I am just going to book a weekend at one of the campgrounds about an hour from here and tell him that he needs to book that Friday off.

I wish we knew another couple who had kids close to our boy’s age. It would be fun to go with other people. I do find that I’m meeting more and more people like that since Owen started school but I don’t know them well enough to go on a vacation with them. By this time next year, with hockey and school and such, I’m sure it will be different.

There’s my friend Mel, but quite frankly after spending an afternoon with them I’m not so sure I want to spend an entire weekend with them….

…. That’s bad isn’t it?

Since I just had a little bitching session about Hubby I should share a little story with y’all to point out how awesome he is too!

We’re sitting at dinner on Friday night and the conversation goes as it does every night at the dinner table…

Me: “How was your day?”
Hubby: “Good.”
Me: “Anything exciting happen? Anything new?”

Hubby gets this look on his face.

Can I tell you guys how much I love being married. It’s the simple stuff like knowing someone so well that you can recognize the slightest change in expression on their face. There’s just something so beautiful and intimate about knowing someone that well. Some may call it boring but I think it’s beautiful…

… anyway, I digress….

there’s The Look.

So I say “You look like you’ve got a secret”
Hubby “Hmmm…. Maybe, maybe not”

Now it’s my turn to give him The Look. Then he says…. “You wouldn’t be interested in going to the Rogers Cup in Montreal, would ya?”

BTW: The Rogers cup is one of the biggest Pro Tennis tournaments that happen around here. You all know how much I love Tennis, and I’ve been saying for years that I want to go to either the Men’s tourney in Mtl, or the Women’s tourney in T.O. some year.

Anyway, he scored us tickets to the Montreal Tournament…2 matches; matinee, and evening. I’m sooooo excited!

I love my Hubby

We’re starting to get things in order for the anniversary party. Like I mentioned a while ago, Hubby’s brother and his crew (wife + 3 teenagers) are coming for the week. Should be fun. Also received word that my sister-in-law’s (the one coming from Nova Scotia) parents are coming too. They live here in Ontario so they are taking the opportunity to visit with them when they are all so close.

Anyway, I’ve never met these folks so that should be interesting.

Also because hubby’s other brother can’t get home from Dubai until the 2nd, we are now having the party on Wednesday night. I’m like… WTF????

This really sucks ass cuz both hubby and his sister have to work. Hubby has another sister… I think I’ve mentioned her before… I call her “Dumb Fuck”.
Well, she won’t be of any help anyway so it really doesn’t matter if she’s working or not….. anyway, I’m getting off track here.

Sooooo, since hubby and the useful sister-in-law have to work on that day, most of the final preps will fall into my lap… WITH, of course, Kids in tow cuz the parents-in-law don’t know about the party.

AAAAAARRRRGH! I have a feeling that by the time this little party gets underway, I, little miss “I don’t drink anymore”,  just may have to polish off a cold one or two.

Anyway, not much else going on with us. I’m gonna head outside now and see if I can start reparations on my tent…. ARRGH!!!!
