Greetings from the exercise bike. While I’m sitting here pedalling my fat ass off I thought I’d post a little note to my flist.
Well the weekend literally flew by but we had a good one.
Hubby decided to tackle a big project this weekend so he was a very busy, hard-working boy. Me: I hung out with the kids and swam most of the time… heh heh heh
Long story short: we had a really REALLY shitty floor in our kitchen. It was one of those quick “Make the house look saleable” jobs that the previous owner did just to sell the house. It was this paper-thin vinyl crap that they actually cut outdoors and brought in the house in one piece. It was never put down properly and never sat quite right. Anyway if you tried tp move any furniture across the kitchen floor sometimes the legs of the item would catch in the vinyl and tear it. This happened a few times and we were able to repair it…. Somewhat. But last week I pulled the stove out to wash in behind it and when I was putting it back I tore a HUGE hole in the middle of the floor.
Hubby didn’t even have to ask, he just heard a very long filthy string of words coming from the kitchen followed by FRAK! Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak Frak frak frak.
He just yelled out from the bedroom.
“It’s okay honey, we’ll go look at new flooring on Saturday…. And… WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE AROUND THE KIDS FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE.”
Anyway, so much for the short story… he then decided that he should paint the kitchen while the shitty floor was still down. So then we decided that we should replace the light fixtures and get a new ceiling fan.
So, this weekend I got a new paint job, new lights, new fan, and a new floor in my kitchen. I’m looking into the cost of having our cabinets painted this week.
I LOVE MY HUBBY
I offered to show him just how much but he said he was too tired. LOLs

The Canada Day festivities were great. I toyed with the idea of going downtown but then I remembered that Will and Kate were in town so I decided against it. Apparently there was half a million people down there or something, I don’t get it. I mean, really, they are a lovely couple and all, but I just don’t get it.
We went to the community center in our area and there was tons of fun... Live entertainment, cotton candy, a bounce pad, races and games for the kids and then fireworks.
Drew fell asleep 5 minutes before the first flare went up but Owen was awake and he loved it. I have to admit for a small town the fireworks display was pretty impressive. Anyway, the community center is a 5 minute drive from our house and the kids were both fast asleep by the time we got home.

Saturday was mostly kitchen renos but we did manage to convince hubby to take a few minutes for a swim. Had dinner at the in-laws and then packed it in early.
Yesterday wasn’t too exciting. We went for a picnic in the park at lunch and Owen’s little friend Olivia was there so that was fun. Other than that, not much other than a lot of swimming… it was a hot one.

Hubby just called to tell me that he has to go out of town on Wednesday. Hummmph! So much for the ‘Not-so-much-travel’ declaration.

Finally managed to force my princess to eat something this morning. She didn’t eat at all yesterday which has me a little worried. I know it was stinkin’ hot and all but still. Gonna watch her closely for the next few days.
