Yeah, yeah, bugsfic, don't even say it. I should know better.

For ar_drabbles challenge 65, "sequel." Sequel to the AU stories Battlefield Cross and Singing in the lifeboat.

( My veins are filled, once a week with a Neapolitan carpet cleaner distilled from the Adriatic and I am as bald as an egg. However I still get around and am mean to cats. )

I like these. That support and shared experience is so important, and it's interesting seeing Bill in Laura's spot for once.

This universe feels like the most AU I've ever written because it so squarely puts Bill into Laura's emotional space.

One of the fun things about AUs, for me, is seeing how far their circumstances can stretch and they retain their characters. Glad to see I haven;t stretched them too far yet.

I only read Battlefield Cross the other day. It's one of my favs. Probably because of Lee's predicament. :)

I love this one too. I love the switch, and how much it works, how real they still sound. I love that she won't give up on him.

And, I won't say it, I'll send Bugs.

Actually, I think it's the best thing you can do.

The voices are just superb here. I usually have trouble with the dialogue only pieces, but I can see this scene so clearly, how they'd be sitting and standing, that hand on Laura's hip...

That's why I've started paring down the description. Anything I could do would pale in comparison to what the reader could envision.
