I love this line. Her books, which once had been his. I so see this about Laura. Taking the books without asking because she just knows Bill will let her take them. And of course, he will.
And it's typical dark queen to set quite a bit of this fic in a period when she's left his quarters after a fight and too much drinking! Aaaah, kill me, why don't you.
More killing: It's important to keep families together. It's not a skill he's ever possessed, but he's never going to stop trying. *sob*
This section is brilliant. He sees her during the day, she uses his office as hers, he sits by her side when she gets her treatments. It should be enough. It never is. He has a rule: if he's picked up the phone three times to call her quarters, if he's started for the hatch twice to go visit, he allows himself to open the drawer, play with the papers. Shows the way they are playing out their relationship ( ... )
