For ar_drabbles challenge #24, alternative universes. bsg_aussiegirl specifically said "pre-attacks, no attacks, no cancer, no President, no Commander." Well...
That was REALLY fast. Who said you couldn't write a/u?
Is it really really bad of me that I burst out laughing when I read these lines? "I'm here with my son. Stage II brain cancer." Lord, forgive me, but it's Frak's fault. She wrote it.
Even in this unfamiliar reality these characters are recognisable and engaging and the scene itself is utterly convincing with beautifully judged and emotive dialogue.
Wonderful work from you as always. I love it. Thank you.
"A book of short stories might be more appropriate. People tend to come and go. Mainly go."
OMG. This line is right up there with the most haunting things you've written. (Here, at least.)
BUT! You gave Lee cancer! Of the brain!!! And that is both very, very funny and very, very sick. So it's like your story is pH-balanced, or something like that. :-D
Oh, come on, admit it. Brain cancer would explain so much about Lee, wouldn't it?
And certain things about A/R have to remain consistent across universes. They care. They love books. And Lee Adama is a tool,l but they both want the best for him, anyway.

I didn't say I couldn't, I said I don't. But you challenged. I obeyed.

I think I'd be offended if you hadn't laughed. I wrote it just for you.
It sure explains a lot about Lee's behavior, doesn't it?

Lee would always be a child Indeed, it would certainly explain alot of things, lol.
Searider Falcon as a conversation (relationship) starter is such a good idea, this book in any universe holds a special place for them.

Honesty, I hadn't thought much beyond "It's not Lee's fault. He's a sick, sick boy."

To him, Lee would always be a child.
To you Bill - and the rest of the worlds.

You have no idea how tempted I am to steal that line as the slogan for my LJ...

Thank you! That's the highest praise an A/U can ask for.
