Hi eveyone, I just wanted to tell you about a sweet new bird that entered our household recently. Having had a vacant cage that was just his size, I covered about one-fouth to one-sixth of the vet bills of a bird who came down with a sudden and serious respiratory infection that eventually took one of his eyes. He's a sweetheart, and he doesn't even have a name yet... everyone just knows him as "pirate bird".
Now, this $250 dollars plus over $100 in accessories came out of my fund for summer school, which I sorely need to attend.
Add in the fact that we're going to have to buy him birdie health insurance, pay for diagnostics often, and the other fact that we are moving to a bigger apartment across the complex inorder that all of the birds will have more room to play and frolic, and you've got some really mounting expenses.
The thing is, he was living in a pet store. He was very well taken care of, but he would have never had a permanenet flock, and the only other bird who permanently lives in the store is a really naughty Macaw named Baby. Not a nice friend to have! I wanted to give him a permanent home, a "forever" flock that he could rely on day in and day out. I played with him for a while, and I was the first person he ever allowed to scratch his head, kiss his tummy and wings, and snuggle him under my chin. He cried out when I had to put him back in my cage. My soul felt like it had been pierced through with a giant stake. I knew, right that moment, that no matter what the bird cost to buy or keep, he had to come home with me.
We're accepting donations through paypal in order to fund some of the extra cost that "pirate bird" is going to accrue, because of his special needs. Please, if you love birds, or just animals in general, and you feel so led to donate, please do. our paypal account is at: erdong88@yahoo.com .
Here's a video of "pirate bird", so that you can see his beauty, despite having a missing eye:
here's some pictures too:
Thanks for reading, and please repost this, if you will. The more it gets around, the more funding we can possibly eleicit for the "pirate fund".
Thanks for reading!
