has anyone been playing with the google earth program? you can see satellite images of the locations you type in, sometimes to a ridiculous degree of resolution. Cambridge, MA is really detailed: you can count cars and what appear to be people in the images. New York is good and Princeton is pretty good too, you can make out the campus layout etc
