New classes and such

OK, so I'm just about done with scheduling my classes for the Spring '06 semester... I just need to get one more scheduled, but it's a closed class, meaning I needed special authorization to get in. I should be OK, I just need to figure out where to take the drop/add form and hopefully that should do it. Assuming I get in that last one, I'm taking 17 credits next semester. I've figured that I need to take 15 credits per semester in order to graduate in spring 2008, so I'm trying to be a little aggressive. Newspaper is two credits of those 17, and really not a very difficult class. I only really do anything like two or three days a month for it, so I can't complain. I think I can take it once more for credit towards graduation after this next semester, so I'm gonna have to find something else that will help pad my credit count after that.

I finally got some good news about my Workman's Comp settlement the other day. The lawyers were busy wasting time trying to get a deal worked out for months now, and my lawyer said they had agreed on 30 weeks of comp, but they never got me any paperwork to sign. Instead, I guess the judge decided to take matters into her own hands, and she awarded me 40 weeks of comp, plus interest. If the dumbass insurance carrier hadn't been fucking me around for the past few months, they could have saved themselves about $4K, so I feel pretty good about that. I get extra money, they screw themselves. I haven't gotten the check yet, but the longer they take, the more money I should get. Still, I really want the loot ASAP. We've got a lot of shit going on, and most of it involves that money.

I did my first official videogame industry interview the other day for gameinatrix.com... It was a little lame, to be honest. I had to interview the developer of a PSP game called "Infected" without having played the game at all. Also, all I was able to do was send a list of questions via email, which will hopefully be answered by someone. Also, I'm not getting paid a nickel for it. Still, I suppose I can put it in the portfolio I haven't really started. I guess I should do that immediately. At least I still have all the files I've done lately.

Steph got me the next book I contracted to do for Ragbooks. It's mercifully short, only a little over 200 pages. The downside is that the chapters are only like ten pages long, meaning I have to write a lot more for the summary than the book really merits. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to do any more of these once I finish my initial batch. They're more of a pain in the ass than they're worth.

One of the girls that writes for Gameinatrix got the gig from Guru.com... I imagine we bid on a lot of the same jobs, though it sounds like she actually gets a lot of work. She seems really cool, we've played some Halo together. She actually kicks ass at it, I'd say she's way better than me... Anyway, I think once you get rolling and have some feedback, it's a little easier to get work. Stupid Ragbooks still hasn't left any feedback for the job I did, so they're not helping...

Anyway, time to go. I feel like tinkering with Photoshop a bit. I owe Scott about 300 revenge pictures.
