It was a really busy weekend. I had a quiet morning in Geneva, obsessing over Burma on BBC World, buying Swiss chocolate and reading Miriam's Dave Gorman book - hilarious, it made my journey home so pleasurable (I'm about to start the other one now!) I headed to the airport at about midday and got trapped in some ridiculous kitsch Swiss holding area for far too long waiting for my departure gates to appear (the inward flight was late). The flight was good, but then the I had to change buses in Dundalk and the second bus showed some ITV drama with Ross Kemp really loudly the rest of the way to Belfast. I jumped off the bus into a taxi, only to be told by the driver that I looked 'demented' - welcome back to Belfast! I realised on the way home that Rich had forgotten our date and it was too late to book a table in the restaurant. He had gone to the pub with his colleagues after work at 5pm so in the end I went down to join them in the Cloth Ear as I hadn't met them before. They all seemed really nice, but understandably drunk given that I did not get there until 10ish. Afterwards Rich and I headed to Whites for one, but ended up bumping into people we knew and having several. I woke up on Saturday, not hungover, but exhausted after all the hecticness of the previous days.

We rushed to get to Karen's wedding but taxis conspired against us, so we got there just after Karen, and I got to see her at the back of the church just before she went in. She looked beautiful. The service was lovely, really relaxed. The reception was really good fun too, I was sorry that I was feeling so tired as I would really have liked to stay longer, although Rich was feeling so hungover that he didn't even drink all day, really uncharacteristic of him. Finally, we left at midnight and I went home and slept like I was dead. It was one of those sleeps where I didn't dream and I don't think I even moved all night. I felt so much better on Sunday.

On Sunday we went to the chilli fest with the PhDs for a while, which I enjoyed. Then I headed to the office for the evening. I got home in time for Michael Palin.

Today has been a good day. I got lots of work done and felt contented to be working on both my job and my book as I don't seem to have got near either in weeks. The rest of the week is written off now though as I have to do some editing for Kieran. To complete my productive day I went to the gym tonight and then watched a documentary on the Great Wall of China. It seems like an awful lot of effort for something that wasn't used for very long...
