Butler is amazingly awesome and this is a study in what I'm interested in now, the internalization of normative powers, rather than just their representation in the social sphere.
Bodies That Matter, Judith Butler
One of her best books, I've read it before but I don't have a copy of my own, it's very wonderful.
Freud As Philosopher: Metapsychology After Lacan, Richard Boothsby
Metapsychology is really interesting and I don't know much about it, this looks at new theories of psychoanalysis, which is the theoretical basis for understanding internalization of normativity (as in Butler, above)
American Psycho, Brett Ellis
Required for class and the initial reason I ordered! Funny how it turned into over a hundred dollars.
Men, Women, and Chainsaws: Gender in the Modern Horror Film, Carol Clover
I'm working on a paper on zombies, disability, and performativity for an upcoming collection of essays, and this is arguably the best horror film theory book since Kristeva's Powers of Horror (which I have checked out from the library now)
Disability Studies: Enabling the Humanities
Collection of essays on disability studies by several important people, I've gotten this over interlibrary loan before and it's an extremely excellent collection, in my opinion the best disability theory reader out there; and one of the editors is Rosemarie Garland-Thomson, who is the Judith Butler of disability theory, a very excellent scholar.
