Maturity is the ability to laugh at yourself. That is not the same as being cynical; people who think that the only two possible outlooks on life are either complete cynicism or utter naivete need to learn to laugh at themselves *more* than they laugh at everyone else. [Looking this over: I don't remember exactly who I was talking about (well, other than Chris, but though this applies to him it was written in response to someone else's self-absorbed cynical apathy), but I guess apathetic people can't help but extend that apathy to others. You can't change the cynics, so let's kill them. Then we'll actually be able to evolve into a better species.]
