moe (last year Lille-r) told me to take pictures of the everyday things - they're what we take for granted, miss the most when gone, and what truly encapsulate specific moments in our lives. she's kaduper right.... so here are some little things about my lille fling (yes, jologs pa rin ako) that i'd like to share with u
-bored college kids with 11-hour layovers in dubai like to play hide-n-seek in the airport
-cobblestone and tree-lined streets make for lots of adventurous walking.
-a school open 24/7 with wifi helps me reconnect with ppl i soooo wish were here with me (this is my one true wish right now- having loved ones share this experience with me would fill the nagging emptiness in my heart)
-pinoys overseas are super imbibing the hospitality trait we heard about so much in grade school civics classes
-homes are way better than dorms (especially dorms with mixed gender/common bathrooms and 5th floor residents -ehem ehem - who don't have the luxury of an elevator)
-language barrier is a b*tch, charades, smiles and winks get you through
-sleeping alone at night is scary, waking up because of a hyperactive pigeon outside your window is even more disturbing
-ym, multiply, and skype are the greatest techie inventions ever (for int'l students at least)
-fresh mozzarella is best eaten in small quantities
-hot milk goes well with nutella on French bread
-food is good, get it free whenever possible
-Mexicans like to party
-having walking translators and maps as travel buddies is cool
-adobo is good even when cold
-French rice sucks
-hanging out with cavemen-ish boys turns you into one
-stopping to listen to a room of int'l students speaking different languages (or english but in different accents) is disorienting and fun
-having sunrise at 730am and sunset at 930pm makes ppl productive yet screws up their sleeping habits
-living in a quiet little town makes you feel like Belle
-Hearing mass in a language you do not understand must be done only ONCE in a lifetime
-intranet is cool!
-it's fun to meet ppl from odd places like lithuania and turkey
-in france, non-smoking rooms are smaller than the other kind
-french is like english and spanish, which is like filipino
-there is no direct translation for "welcome to club international" in filipino
-waking up, walking, sleeping, taking a bath, traveling, etc-ing in cold weather is not for island girls - as brian/jaime would say, "in our country, we play with buko"
at the end of it all, i guess this entry is more for me than you. So if you've reached this part, thanks for journeying through living memories with me. I seriously wish you were here too :)
