AU Information: Minato's file.

Jun 26, 2011 03:57

As I only play Minato, this entry will only cover him in-depth. Personality is included (and yes, it is a long one!) because he is very different from his canon counterpart personality-wise.

Strega
Members: Minato Arisato, Chidori Yoshino, Jin Shirato, Ken Amada, Koromaru.
Ex-members: Takaya Sakaki (former co-leader).
Enemy: Specialized Extra-Curricular Execution Squad; SEES.

Member Information
Name: Minato Arisato
Aliases: Ayumu Ishikawa (at Gekkoukan High), Aoi Satō (in other countries), among several others. Usually he simply goes by "Minato," but will also answer to any of these names.
Age: 17.
D.O.B: April 3rd, 1992.
Gender: Male.
Blood type: O
Astrological: ♈ Aeries.
Relations: Minami Arisato (younger sister whom he believes to be deceased), the Arisatos (parents; deceased).
Persona: Thanatos (forced out of him by the Kirijo Corp.), Samael (his own, summoned from his potential), Mot.

Appearance: Blue hair, silver eyes that are rather cold-looking, fairly short, around 5 ft. something. Slender in build, but not weak. As a result of the Kirijo Corporation's experiments, Minato has a scar shaped something like a cross on the back of his neck (it looks like this: ✜), and tends to wear a scarf so as to cover it up, because it's very hard to miss as an identification mark. He also wears a long black coat, a nice dress shirt (white or gray, usually), black slacks, and black boots or dress shoes, depending on what he is doing.

Misc. Info: Minato functions as the brains behind the scenes and the one who does the shooting first and foremost. He is an expert shooter despite his age, training acquired from practicing since they were able to procure guns illegally, nearly eight years. He also is proficient in the use of a sword, as is his initial Persona, Thanatos, but he only uses it for fighting Shadows and has a tendency to really only take his Evoker and pistol with him.

If he lets his emotions get the better of him, particularly anger, he will lose control of Thanatos and it will try to kill him or anything else around him, even going so far as to manifest outside the Dark Hour--he doesn't know it, but that's because it's a piece of Death drawn out into the form of a Persona, which is why he has so much trouble wielding it. His actual Persona is Samael, which he would eventually learn to summon as a secondary Persona he would use over Thanatos, which he couldn't control hardly at all, but Samael will listen far better than Thanatos will when he is taking his Suppressants. His final Persona would come as a gift to him once he knows the truth and makes up with Minami (he has yet to acquire it), in the form of a powered up version of Mot.

Personality: Minato is calm, collected, and level-headed. He is hardly fazed by anything to the extent that one might call him uncaring for most things. This is not, in fact, entirely true: this persona is merely a defensive facade he has built up after ten or so years of being on the run. He is generally emotionless, a side-effect of the traumatic events he has been through and the medication which he takes. He does not fear death, he merely accepts it as an inevitability for himself and his team. As Chidori once explains it, all of Strega have the same view (except, perhaps, young Ken): all that happens when you die is that you don't wake up anymore. It's not sad, or wrong. It just simply is. As such... Minato has a certain emotional detachment to death and murder as a whole.

At some point, alongside Jin, he started a website called Revenge Request, in which he and his team would carry out illegal activities during the Dark Hour. Minato handles delivery of illegal goods, namely Suppressants and several other illegal drugs that he himself does not take, but sells. He also handles the much more expensive business Strega carries out: assassination requests. He is very good at killing within a single shot (he can use many guns, but he always carries a pistol with him), and has no qualms whatsoever with it.

... So long as the target deserves to die, of course. Which is why Minato is very selective about the hits they take and the ones they don't. This selectiveness, seemingly "at random" makes the site gain an urban legend quality, one which he likes to keep.

He sees no issues with the Dark Hour because he feels that he was robbed of his life by the Kirijo Corporation. The reason he doesn't fear death is because, as he puts it, "I died that night on the Moonlight Bridge, along with my sister." As such, his only mission is to stop SEES from ending the Dark Hour, something he, as the leader of Strega, takes very personally.

Speaking of SEES, they're the only people who break his calm facade. The leader, Minami (who he is unaware of as his sister and hasn't bothered to check her last name) sets off something within him, showing his true side, that of an angry young man who feels the life he and his friends have endured is unfair, and that SEES has no right to rob them of their only way to live and be relatively happy with what semblance of a life they have. In truth, she reminds him of his sister, and so he can't stand her.

He's very intelligent and fears almost nothing; his plans are tactically quite sound, as Strega has never been caught or left any evidence of any of their activities, which even include stealing basic necessities during the Dark Hour from stores and the like.

Of course, there's another side to him... a rarely seen one, only viewable to his team. Minato cares for Chidori, Jin, Ken, and Koromaru a great deal, and would do anything to make them as happy as they can possibly be. They all live in the now instead of worrying about the future, thus, any money Minato makes for them, he either saves or spends on novel things (gothic lolita dresses for Chidori, angel wings and a custom Evoker for Koromaru, new laptops and tech for Jin, action figures for Ken and so forth) to keep his team happy. Minato is actually a very kind-hearted person deep down, but he feels showing this around anyone but his team would reveal a weakness in him he can't afford to exploit, which is why he's as cruel and ruthless as he is to SEES.

To strangers, he is generally not very talkative, tending to be somewhat quiet and withdrawn, if semi-polite. He won't tell someone not to sit with him, for example, but that doesn't mean he isn't annoyed inwardly if you get in his personal bubble or bother him repeatedly. He just won't show it, or say it. It's only if they set off a few of his triggers (scientists, the Kirijo corp., SEES-related things, being corrupt or unfair, etc.) that he tends to get mean.

He and Takaya Sakaki were once co-leaders of the team, but Minato began having doubts a few years after they had been together. Eventually, he would notice Takaya seeming to manipulate Jin into doing things he hadn't approved of, thus, when Takaya finally went so far as to break the rules Minato had set for the Revenge Request site (particularly the not killing people if he deemed they don't deserve it) in April of 2009 by slaughtering an entire family and taking a hit Minato had said they ignore, he ousted him from the team with Chidori and eventually, with some talking to, Jin's support, leaving him to fend for himself somewhere with a little pocket cash. Apparently, Takaya never got over the betrayal, as he would eventually murder Shinjiro Aragaki. Ever since then, Minato and him have had a bitter feud with one another; he hates him for what he did, and even more once he murders Shinjiro.

Minato is a quiet, but tactical leader, analyzing the situation at hand as warranted and preferring not to get his hands dirty in the affairs of other matters that he believes do not concern him. While this may seem cold, it also prevents him from becoming attached--he knows he will die soon, he even knows when. While he says he doesn't want to burden himself with friendship... it's somewhat obvious to those who are close to him that his team are his friends. Beyond that, they're like his family.

He is always willing to, at least attempt to help (if grudgingly, at times, depending on who it is that may be asking and what it is they need), even if he hardly knows the person, but he will generally do so with something of a poor attitude. I think you'd call this 'tsundere'.

All in all, Minato is a harsh, but icy person on the outside to those who don't know him. One might even call him an Ice King. But to those who cares for or are younger than him (like Ken), he can be a compassionate older brother figure that guides them and makes sure that the choices they make are absolutely the ones they feel are right. He might be a little morally skewed, but that's just a result of his life as a whole. Just because he's a little confused and a little lost, and very sad deep inside, does not mean he's a bad person, as his sense of right and wrong, skewed as it may be, will oftentimes override the need of anything else. He might lead Strega, but that doesn't make him evil.
