*Few people, if any, would know that Albedo was fond of cats, so it may come as a surprise to those who know him should they see him walking home today with a black cat sitting on his shoulder, looking around with green eyes. He hadn't been planning on getting one, but the animal had caught his eye as he passed the store and he hadn't been able to ( Read more... )

[And when he arrives home, Theta is sitting on the porch swing, waiting to be let in after having had to go to her assigned home the night before. She smiles cheerily, amused at the cat on his shoulders.]

You seem to have a passenger, Darling...

[A one off is funny. But hopefully it will go back to its home soon.]

Yes, he seems rather taken with the spot, doesn't he? *He reaches up to rub behind the cat's ear.* Though he's proven himself quite opposed to being carried in any other way.

[And her face falls. Oh dear.]

...Why do you have a cat?

You could say I'm rather fond of the beasts. This one just happened to catch my attention. *Apparently bored of being scratched behind the ear, the cat shakes its head and jumps down.*

Contrary little creatures, aren't they?

So it's your cat now?

[She watches it as it jumps down, then turns her attention back to Albedo.]

I suppose if it pleases you...

I had one before, you know. Back before that day.

*The cat walks over to Theta's feet, then sits down and meows at her.*

Back home, you mean?

[She looks down at the cat, puzzled by its attention.]

You're Albedo's cat. Go back to him.

In my own universe, perhaps, but that place is no home of mine.

*The cat meows again and paws at Theta's leg, prompting a chuckle and a smirk from Albedo.* Cats are rarely inclined to take orders, my dear.

[She reaches down and pushes it gently away.]

We'll make a home in your universe, at any rate. In the mean time... Does this pest have a name? [Not as harsh as she wanted to sound.]

*The cat meows in objection and wanders back to bump its head against Albedo's leg.* I believe I'll call it the same thing as my old pet. Gaignun.

Interesting name. Is it a reference to something?

Familiar with the legend of Roland, my dear? *He bends down to pet Gaignun's head.*

Vaguely. Not entirely. But I knew it had to have -some- significance for you to name a pet that.

...But did it have to be a -cat-?

It's simply one of the first legends from Lost Jerusalem Rubedo, Nigredo and I managed to learn about. *Technically, he's not really lying, since that is what the original Gaignun was named after.*

Mm? Have something against them?

Not particularly. Just... Couldn't it have been a lizard or a snake or a spider? ...Something cute?

I wouldn't know how to keep such creatures alive, my dear. Besides, I find myself rather fond of the way felines tend to act~
