Intro: Of Course

The months ago by, and you function. You still go to work, and you still buy milk at the corner store on your way home. And the whole time, you pretend that there isn’t a reason that you aren’t running late in the mornings anymore, and that you only buy milk by the pint. You pretend, and your acquaintances pretend, and eventually things run a ( Read more... )

The Doctor bolted into the room. Yes, bolted. Yes, ran without much care or insight. He'd been running like he'd lost his mind (which was a given as of a few hundred years ago) for the last ten minutes. He was on a sanctuary base in the middle of Mars, that was determinable. He'd even been excited to see the planet out there when he woke up on one of the cots in the medbay. Then, he realized he couldn't find the TARDIS. He couldn't find the TARDIS, and he couldn't figure out when he was. Because sanctuary bases on Mars were all well and good, but there appeared to only be one sanctuary base And no crew.

That's when panic set in, and he was never very good at panic.

He skidded down to one knee near the woman on the floor. "What year is it?" he demanded.

Alice heard running down the corridors, and looked around for something to act as a weapon. Realistically, if the person coming knew this place better than her, she wouldn't get far by simply running. There wasn't much, and she had to settle for what looked like a fire extinguisher. She pulled out the pin, and sprayed without discrimination when the man rounded the corner, going for a blind-and-run. The force of the thing almost knocked Alice back entirely, throwing her aim off. But she kept at it anyway. She only stopped when she heard his question.

Time travel. Lovely.

“...2010. Why?”

((ooc: Feel free to have Alice's aim be lousy and miss!))

The Doctor fell back against the ground, the force of the fall nothing to the sudden throbbing in his jaw. The woman had an arm on her! Also, something heavy and metal, it appeared. One more inch up, and she'd have knocked him unconscious!

He blinked and rubbed his jaw. "Ow!"

2010 was wrong. Bowie Base One wasn't until the 2050's, at least. Something was very wrong here, besides the looseness of his back molar.

Oh. Well. She'd just meant to spray him -- the flailing had been unintended -- but Alice wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Holding tight to the extinguisher, she kept her jaw locked in a "don't even try it" expression that she hadn't inherited from her mother.

"You didn't answer my question."
