Gundam wing meme ficlets

As I promised yesterday here are the various ficlets I've written for various memes and challenges which have until now remained buried in the comments of random posts. Some of you will have seen some of these before but there should be something unseen for just about anyone.

Awesome pieces! Love the Wufei and Methos one almost as much as the 3 facts one.

Wufei never gets enough love. It's funny because he's a fantastic character, but I guess because he doesn't fit into the two favourite pairings he tends to get overlooked.

Yes he is and he's no where near the sexist some people think he is. It doesn't fit the cultural background, if you look into it.

I feel for the guy sometimes.

He's great to write too, I always find the dialogue flows easier with Wufei around (but for some reason 3x4 has hijacked my gundam wing muse and everything I write for GW recently wants to become a Quatre/Trowa scene).

It's easy to mistake Wufei's attitude for sexism but he's really just preoccupied with the idea of meeting strength with strength.

Not only that, but he actually ends up protecting and honouring women in the series. So its not that he considers them 'less'. My take on it is that he's trying to protect them with a view they shouldn't be in wars as they are needed to keep country and families going. But that's just my take on it.

Oh definitely agreed, and when you think of his own personal history it's completely understandable that he would want to protect them. Though I think he seems to gradually come to accept they may have a place on the battlefield too. Sally helps him a lot I think, both with inspiring him and simply by being a strong competent woman who survives.

I suspect the surviving part is key to it. Then again, if you look at her as a character, she's not shown a huge amount but you can infer a lot of background simply by being who she is - a doctor at that young age, and a skilled fighter. Says something about htat world too.

Sally's probably got a fantastic backstory lurking in her past. She and Catherine are I think the only gundam girls I actually like throughout the entire series. (Not that I don't like the other girls, at least occasionally, but they all have annoying moments that seem to undermine their characters).

I figure she has indeed. She'd have to just to be able to get htrough medschool 10 years early.

I never had much time for Hilde personally - she's a bit of a turncoat

I find Hilde ultimately eminently forgettable and definitely a little too easily led, she decides to join Oz because of what she's been told and then within 5 minutes of meeting him she's following Duo.

Personally I find Relena sets my teeth on edge, she's pretty spoiled in the beginning and I'm afraid my opinion was set before she started to grow up and change during the series (actually she goes through a sort of saintly not very prractical phase in the middle which irritates me too) so while she's probably a strong and admirable character by the end she has annoyed me for too long before that for me to actually like her. It's a shame because I think she could be quite awesome if I was able to ignore the earlier episodes.
