finally over jetlag!

I've been back in the states since Monday night, and I'm only now feeling readjusted to EST. It didn't help that classes started on Wednesday and I've been scurrying to get everything done in time.

Salzburg was really good. The meetings were interesting, mostly (there were some folks who obviously liked to hear themselves speak), and a lot of the informal conversations were good. The conference was on increasing students' international awareness on college campuses. It worked best when we focused on that, as opposed to the truly esoteric questions having to do with globalization.

The conference was held in a palace, or Schloss, so as one might expect it was very nice. Lots of wonderful food, and breaks for coffee and pastries every 90 minutes. The Schloss was the one used for the Sound of Music, so if you have ever seen that movie, you saw where I was staying. It was quite gorgeous. (Yes, I took pictures, but I haven't sorted them yet.)

I did get out of the Palace a few times to see more of Salzburg. Mostly I checked out the Cathedral, graveyards, gardens, and churches. The Augustinerkloster Brewery, a massive beerhouse in an old Augustinian monastery, was also lots of fun.

After a week in Salzburg I headed to Munich for a day to see G. and M. and their sixteen month old baby. I had never met their spawn, so it was lots of fun.

So, a good trip. But now back to teaching.
