snippet of a Xenodream image

I use a remarkable 3D Fractal program called Xenodream, which I chanced upon a few years ago. It has, well, amazing scope and versatility. I posted an animation here a couple months ago that was done withe Xenodream. They have just released a trial version that you can download and play with.

This one is actually a full sized snippet of a much larger render. The original render was 12,500 x 10,000 pixels and was done for a contest. At 300 dpi, the original is poster sized. It took about 72 hours to render on my 2 ghz duo core, so yes, big ones take time. Smaller sizes, say, 1024 x 768 will take considerably less time, even under an hour depending on the type of fractal being modelled. This one was originally saved as an uncompressed jpeg. Other formats are available such as PSD so that you can use your fave graphics editor for any post production work.
