Lukey's boat is painted green...

And every seam is chinked with putty... What? Sometimes these lyrics are just what I'm listening to at the moment.

Anyway. I haven't posted in awhile, because life is both kind of busy and not all that bloggable at the moment. I'm writing some, which is good, and working a lot, which is, well, just work, really. And going to dance, and failing to keep house, and reading and eating and playing with cats. I've been thinking of pretending I'm an international jewel thief again, just to liven the blog up a little, but that takes away from the eating and reading and lazing about on my ass time, so I haven't. Yet. (Note: nor have I plans to become an actual international jewel thief. I think the boat has sailed on that opportunity. Don't you have to be, f'rinstance, a relatively decent thief to begin with? I can't even lie about sick days convincingly. I doubt I could pull off a heist.)

BUT, in the realm of things that might be a good reason to blog, I am making progress on the work in progress. Progress on progress is good. I have about 20,000 words, and when I reach about 50 or 60, and I edit some, I will send it around to some people who know things, and see what they think. Possibly even the agent who was my agent, but now may not remember me. We'll see. But I feel pretty good about this. To the point of making a report about it here, and making vague promises of future work. A step forward, indeed. Let's hope I didn't just jinx it all.

Tally (the words) ho!

PS (as I mentioned on facebook) I discovered today that "When I Was a Young Girl" by Feist is about dying of syphilis. Huh. I knew it was a folksong, and I knew it was about dying sadly and repentance, but that twist makes it extra ... something. There just aren't that many songs that are about women dying of venereal disease. Considering how many songs there are about loose women, there obviously is some sort of information gap. Or maybe people just don't like singing songs about dying of syphilis. Unless they're AWESOME.

weird brain, botheration, things i like, writing, unexpected (noun) is unexpected, all about me, random, huh, life stuff, trying, writing habits, in my head, words, music, songs, stuff
