"Other's can't love you, until you love yourself"... I've always thought that phrase was bullshit; and I still do.. only it's not as full of shit as I had previously thought. Plenty of self hating, pessimistic, masochists have plenty of people who love them. I think the axiom's real meaning is something more along the lines of.. "You won't let others accept you for who you are until you accept yourself" or something like that. Whenever I do something right, I feel like I have to explain to people that I'm usually not really this good, how I came to the conclusion, or how much I suck in some other way, otherwise I will feel like I have some how conned someone into believing something about me that just isn't true. So until I can "love" myself, I won't let anyone else "love" me.
Just googled it and the correct phrase is.. "You Can’t Love Someone Else Until You Learn to Love Yourself " but the concept still remains... You can't love someone until you believe you deserve that love.
