Ohio FPS State Bowl

Apr 22, 2006 22:13

Hey everyone. I'm a first-time poster here, in my second year of FPS at the senior level (junior in high school). I was just posting about the Ohio FPS State Bowl ( Read more... )

well, our individual, Brian, qualified, so now HE has to make a tough choice - graduation or IC? he probably won't be able to go.

Hey, you, congrats on your awards! I hope you heard Lyssa (she was the Rich Person in our skit. Ahaha she had to get pressurized) and I clapping madly for you. ;) I wanted to find you after the awards, but you guys scooted out of there all fast-like ( ... )

We heard clapping, yay, thank you! It's funny, whenever someone wins in Solon or West Branch or Kent, half the crowd seems to be screaming, and our cheering section is slightly smaller. However, we have a video taken at IC where the cameraperson was standing right next to Brett's mom, and she screamed so loudly that she could beat ANY of the screaming little girls at awards. :)

I have to tell you, Miriam's scenario was AMAZING (fear my HTML skills!). I love last year's too, but this one was even better, I think. I'll be interested to hear what the IC results are. Man, I want to be able to write that well ( ... )

-nod- I agree that the scenario was absolutely AMAZING (haha I know HTML too!!! XD). My scenario, just in case anyone wanted to know, got 8th place... of 9. XD Mrs. Reynolds was very disappointed that I didn't confer with her about it, but I totally did it the night before because I forgot all about due dates. Ah well.

I was going to do scenarios this year - I love to write - but, long story short, our coach, who is amazing, left the district and was no longer able to be our coach, so we got a new coach who knew very little to nothing about FPS, and our grand plans of being assistant coaches to younger students and doing scenarios fell through. :p Mrs. Reynolds is super cool - our aforementioned coach is a senior evaluator, so she's introduced us to all the "big names" in OFPS. I love evaluators - they're all these sweet gifted teachers. :)

Hey, 8th place deserves cheering too:

*CHEERS LIKE CRAZY*

Mrs. Reynolds is amazing! She's so nice.

T_T She's having surgery on Tuesday... Hopefully everything will go well, though. We actually made her a quilt... And we're all planning on sending her "Get Well Soon" cards. When I acquire the address, I can give it to you if you want.

I'd love the address, thanks! I'm very artistic and crafty and one of my favorite things is to make/send people cardy-type things. :)

I'm glad you did. ;) I certainly appreciated the whoopings when we won skit, though we did sort of have a massive block of seats, as usual. It was a bit scary how many parents showed up this year, but I think it was because Mrs. Frazier had a fourth grade CPS team, which I just can't even imagine. It took me forever just now to even remember what the awards ceremony looked like last year, I was so tired, so I don't remember any loud screaming. I believe we cheered for you, too, though. Our hop-scotch buddy and all.

Awesome HTML... ;) It was totally absolutely amazing, as usual. I didn't read it before she sent it in (as she literally wrote it a day or two before, the freak... I worked for a least a week on mine. Yikes. Silly deadline creeping up on me.) and I was stunned when they read it. She definitely deserved first place. I mean, I reread mine and there was no competition.

I don't understand why they do it over graduation. That's everyone's graduation, except for all the crazy foreigners, and the Senior division is small enough ( ... )

It's actually during our graduation, too. But none of us are seniors - we're all juniors.

The timing REALLY sucks, though. x.x;

I'll read your scenario when they post it on the OFPS site.

I think I'm going to write a letter/email to FPSP about graduation. I just want to make it clear to them how frustrating we feel it is for *anyone* to be in that situation, especially since anyone who's a senior has probably been in FPS for YEARS, and it means a lot to them, and then what happens to your last chance? I can be very persuasive. :p

They should be here in a week or so, I think.

It's up there now, but I also copied it into my journal. :D

You should definitely write that letter. I am so determined to go to this thing one last year, but it's so much in the way! And then what if the plane is delayed or something and we don't get back in time? SUCK. Not to mention my whole team would kill me for talking them into going, if I ever do manage to do that. I know they can't change it now or anything, but still. Yuck.

Ahhh I hate how they can't give you the evaluations that day. I want to seeeeee it! I want to know why we managed to do so well, so it can be repeated! Not to mention our skit evaluation...

Oh, really? I didn't know. XD This was my team's first year at States. We were the other Solon team. Yeah, we actually had two... comprising all of the members of our high school FPS team... Kinda sad.

We didn't qualify last year because we messed up our UP... therefore messing up the whole packet...

And we didn't place this year because everyone else is better than us and we're quite inexperienced. ^^;

And the song was really on-key? I was doubting that it was... lol, the Boyle's Law song ended up super off-key though. :P

And yes, your skit was amazing. I was somewhat agonizingly nervous, though, and wasn't paying as much attention as I could have been. XD

you had a song about boyle's law? you rock.

-nod- It was to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy. We had a pretty poster and "Dr. Pearl the Science Girl." Yes, note that it rhymes like Bill Nye the Science Guy. XD We had way too much fun making the whole presentation. The Boyle's Law song was inspired by how Bill Nye has the music video at the end of all his shows. XD It started as a rap, but... we thought better. :P

If I ever get a microphone again, I'll record it. XD
