The mote and the beam

A man who claims to teach how evil works while being wholly blind to his own self-righteousness, and who, instead of taking on opposing arguments, tries to psychoanalyze them out of existence: http://frontpagemag.com/2010/04/20/how-evil-works/
Shame on you, Dr.

Well, the psychobabble is silly, but the initial diagnosis, in the first answer, is pretty much on the button.

I think that to identify "the left", that is a large part of your fellow citizens, with a mental illness, is not only insulting but downright dangerous - to you. It is always wise to start with the premise that others are rational and have sane views, and that the thing to do with them is to argue rather than to diagnose them as insane - which is, in real life, the preliminary to chucking them into the laughing academy. The obvious consequence of this gentleman's way of arguing is the sectioning of everyone who voted for Obama at the last election.

Indeed, to categorize a people as insane is much more convenient than a plain old ad hominem attack. You don't even have to try to analyze *why* people think/do what they do because they're just crazy!
