Nice people to work for?

Dec 04, 2004 16:50

There must be a reason why eight out of fifteen members of the original Bush cabinet, including such right-wing stalwarts as John Ashcroft and the first Homeland Security Secretary, Tom Ridge, have refused to serve in the second term. And so has the US Ambassador to the UN, John Danforth, who was another reliable right-winger. People have focussed on Colin Powell's resignation or sacking, but in his case there were evident political differences. With these people, the same reason cannot be adduced; and it must follow that they simply do not want to spend another four years under Bush. Which tells you something about the kind of leader and boss that he is.
