Two years ago, the final of the Champions League (that is, the European club soccer championship) took place in Istanbul. Milan and Liverpool were the contending teams. Milan dominated the game, but Liverpool managed to draw at the last minute of regular time, and then won by a goal scored at the last minute of extra time. This year the final took place in Athens, practically next door. Liverpool tried their coming-back-from-behind stunt again, but failed. Milan are now the champions, plus they have won the European Cup/Champions League more often than anyone else, plus goalscorer Filippo Inzaghi is now the second highest scorer of all time in the competition. This is exactly like Italy's World Cup victory last year, when, in the final, we beat France, thus avenging a similarly disappointing last-minute defeat inflicted by France at the European nations Cup. It's true what they say - vengeance is sweet.
