anxious anticipation of joy
I have got one. After months of desire and hope postponed and plans made and broken, I finally own an electronic keyboard, an old Casio with four octaves - the best I can do, since my flat cannot accommodate a piano. Only I do not know yet if it works. It has no transformer cable, so I will have to purchase one, or six large batteries at least; and then, just hope that it is not broken.
But if it works...! If it works, then I have the opportunity to undo the second worst disappointment of my life. When I was 15, I was forbidden from taking music lessons - and it happened in a way, and for reasons, so mean and underhanded that my blood still boils at the memory. But now I have the functional equivalent of a piano. If it works, I will be able to play and compose music. And as far as I am concerned, if there is a better thing to be than a musician, it can only be God.
