Okay, I'm back now.
Vietnam was pretty cool. Many highlights, many things worth complaining about. First off, one month is way too long to be with your parents 24/7. That aspect was quite painful, as was the 14-day tour we were on. Way too long.
- Vietnam Airlines was pretty crap. No personal entertainment system for the 8 hour flight, I spent the flight drinking cocktails lol in the hope of getting to sleep.
- We totally got ripped off on the taxi from the airport to our hotel. 200,000VND. It was only 120,000VND when we went back.
- Dad spent the entire 4 weeks waking up at like 4am >.<
- FUCKING HOT.
- Since we had such early nights, I watched a lot of TV. MTV and Channel V Asia are awesome. They had like a whole boyband special, plenty of Click Five videos :)
- I went jetskiing and parasailing, haha, it was like Thailand all over again!
- Shopping in Vietnam is awful. I mean, most of the stuff is crap. But the worst part is the shop keepers! You walk into a shop and start browsing and they would come up and stand less than a metre from you at all times. Not even being helpful, just watching you. I was so pissed off at them.
- Tour folks were okay I guess. Most were Viet-American or Viet locals. Got a little crush on one of the guys... then found out the girl I thought was his sister was his wife. Doh. Luckily mum enlightened me before I asked about his 'sister' haha.
- Didn't get foodsick. I ate ice, chicken, eggs, street stall food - nothing happened.
- Mum got really sick like the 4th day we were there! Had to take a 'sick day' from the tour (YAY!) to go to the doctor's, which was a bit shifty...it costed $2AUD to be checked up lol and dad got his teeth cleaned for about $4AUD.
- Lots and lots and lots of temple seeing...
- My Vietnamese didn't improve at all. And OMG, in Hanoi... I couldn't understand anything because of their accent.
- Salon day was great! Hehe, mum got her hair coloured, a facial and her nails and toes done. I got my nails and toes done and my hair cut and straightened. It was about $12AUD for both of us!
- Cambodia was very cool. I loved Angkor Wat, now that's a cool temple-y place. The food was really good in Cambodia too. And there were only 7 of us on the tour; us and four elderly Viets who were so funny!
- The village where my mum's cousins live. So gross. I couldn't stand it. The 'hotel' was nasty. We only lasted one night there. And bugs, the BUGS!
Anyway, I was really sick when I got back to Melbourne, the doctor said it was a virus yet still didn't give me new meds. Maybe she thought I was lying. Because I had one of those on/off stomach aches and it happened to be off when she checked me >.< Good thing though, I gained like 3kg in Vietnam and lost that in the week I was sick haha.
I went to see Hancock on the weekend. It kind of sucked :( I was expecting funnier. And speaking about Hancock; Jason Bateman > the Teen Wolf 2 > the original Teen Wolf > Michael J. Fox!
Michael J. Fox Blazes Trail to 'Rescue Me' !!!
I'm excited. I wonder if he'll be playing another sick character, like his lung cancer stricken character in Boston Legal.
Have been watching heaps of Monk the last week as well. Up to season 5 now. I *might* finish season 6 before season 7 starts next week. And Psych is back on too yay! So in Vietnam, I bought: Monk, Scrubs, The X-Files, Nip/Tuck and Friends. I shall waste months of my life watching them.
I watched Dexter on TV on Sunday night too. It's still awesome. You can tell it wasn't made for ads though.
Alright, there you go. I think it's all up to date now :)
