Lancôme Holiday 2012 -TresOR

It’s holiday time again! The brands are rolling out holiday collections and here’s what Lancome has in store for us!

Lancôme Holiday 2012 (Singapore)

Before we start, do take note that the products we get in Singapore are not always the same as what the US, Canada and other countries get. Lancome Singapore often renames them (god knows why…) and only brings in selective stuff (for example, we don’t get the polishes). Also, our items are made in Japan instead of France, so there’s slightly different color namings and shade variations. I’ve placed the USA naming in a bracket, so that you can refer to the swatches online via the USA name easily. E.g. Renamed color ( original color name )

Petit Tresor Hypnose Ombre Monos
Inline with the festive mood, these limited edition eyeshadows are encased in gold glittery packaging instead of the usual black, and at first reminded me of cobbled walkways - but upon a closer look, they’re actually stamped to look like the mesh materials of a dress, or sequins! Such intricate details and it makes me not want to dip my brush into them. I think I’ll just use up one corner hahaha.

Available in 3 shades: Fil d’Or, Mesh (Fil d’Argent) and Sequins (Fil d’Bronze). They are priced at $36 SGD each.

Swatches (dry) for the eyeshadows L-R: S112 Fil d’Or, S207 Mesh (Fil d’Argent) and S208 Sequins (Fil d’Bronze).

These can be used dry or wet for a more intense look - but the color payoff is already pretty intense and amazing even when swatched dry.

They look like boring earthy neutrals in the pan, but give them a chance - swatch them on your skin, and get ready to be blown away. The eyeshadows actually contain pure golden pigments which shine like stars on your eyelids (when he light hits the right spot - sounds corny but I was like “whoa!” when I first applied this) but has a luxurious and smooth texture to it instead of feeling gritty - these LE eyeshadows are definitely keepers!

L’absolu Rouge
I didn’t get to swatch this on my lips, so no lip swatches - but these limited edition shades which are supposedly infused with golden reflections (which I don’t really see on my hand swatch!) looks moisturizing and wearable.

Available in 3 shades: Agate Délicate, Rubis Infini and Opale Fatale (All 3 shades are limited edition) and they cost $44 SGD each.

Les Paillettes Aux Yuex (Ombre Hypnose Eyesparkle)
This is a pinkish eye glitter, and it comes in a (really) tiny shaker bottle which is good for me as I hate having powder flying around everywhere whenever I open a bottle of loose pigment.
This contains lovely glitters which can be used over the Hypnose Ombre Monos, but I find that they’re also suitable for use on the body, especially on your collarbones, say, for a Christmas party!

Available in just 1 shade for Singapore: Lumieres de Paris (À la Belle Étoile / Putting on the Ritz) , at $36 SGD.

La Vie Est Belle

“Universal yet personal, Lancôme’s femininity is a choice embraced by women, not an imposed standard. The choice to live one’s life and fill it with beauty - your own way. Lancôme has long fostered such a conviction, and shares it today with all women in the form of an exceptional creation. The fragrance of joyful femininity and happiness. The fragrance that makes life more beautiful.”

Available in 3 sizes, 30ml - S$98, 50ml - S$145, and 75ml - S$170

“La Vie Est Belle” is a french expression, and it means “Life is beautiful”. The classy, sleek glass bottle design, which U-curve is actually a smile, was aptly named “Le sourire de cristal” (the crystal smile) and has been kept in their archives since it’s creation in 1949, only to be released 63 years later in it’s full significance with La Vie est belle. The simply designed fragrance has nothing on it that shouts “Lancome” - not even the ribbons which represents the wings of freedom - instead, the brand’s logo is etched on the the top of where you would place your finger to spritz the fragrance.

And oh did I mention? The official ambassador for the perfume is Julia Roberts, who’s famous for her smile.

Personally, I find the perfume a little too sweet and strong for me - all the way from the start to the bottom. At first whiff, it does smell a lot like Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noir (after it has settled for a few hours), which I actually like a lot as a night fragrance - they both contain Iris, Patchouli Tonka Bean and Vanilla, but La Vie est belle has Orange Blossom and Jasmine, and smells less complex than LPRN to me.

I’m not so much of a perfume conosseiur, I’d admit (so sorry for the lousy review haha) and only during my research of perfume notes did I know that when they use the term “Gourmand” to describe a perfume, it means that it smells like food on the table. Well… this scent doesn’t do anything for my appetite (i.e. I don’t really like this) - but this may appeal to people who love strong, sweet, floral scents and need a perfume which lasts all day.

Promotional set for La vie est belle - For S$145, you get the 50ml perfume and an additional 10ml purse spray (worth S$185).

Check out the other promotional sets from Lancome available for Christmas 2012 - I’ve always loved their Mascara sets!

(Mag Yeo, are you reading this!? The mascara set was made for you!)
