Review: Bioré Make Up Removers

Oct 25, 2010 16:14

I know I know. It’s becoming a blog full of “ads”.

But it’s so far these “ads” are full of things I really like XD And I was just about to write an entry on it when this chance to review 3 different Bioré make up removers / cleansers from Sample Store came along! XD

When I was in Japan (okay i sound like a robot - this is becoming like a “Once upon a time…” on my blog man wtf, but i love buying make up/new stuff in Japan~ ), I forgot my make up remover (it was in a pump bottle. Convenient and hygenic but IT WASN’T PORTABLE - I didn’t want my bag full of remover!) and washing my face 3 times with a weak cleanser didnt do my face ANY good. DAMN. And so, I had to scour the drugstores for a make up remover. I randomly picked a pack of Bioré cotton facial cleanser (10pcs, lasts me 10 days lah, haha) and I’ve been using it since! I even bought another brand (Lets just call it K) just to compare, but Bioré’s was much better!
Bioré Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets

Don’t be fooled by the name - it’s not that oily afterall.
This box contains 48 pieces of cotton sheets soaked in their cleansing oil, and though sufficiently moist, it was just right and didn’t feel that oily nor did it irritate my eyes. I love, love love this! (Okay i need some new vocab)

It comes in a box + sheets, and there’s a sheets only refill and lastly, handy travel pack (10pcs!). : )

One sheet is usually all i need to remove my light daily make up.
That’s foundation primer, liquid foundation, 2 concealers, 2 way powder, blusher, mascara (sometimes) and eyeliner (always!).

For my usual “war paint”, I’d use two pieces just to be thorough. : p

Here’s a test swab with some products on my hand.

From left to right,
Mac Eyeshadow (with 2 faced shadow insurance primer), L’Oreal budgeproof eyeliner in Violet Volt (with primer), Majorlica Majorca Mascara, Candydoll Pencil Eyeliner, Nyx Lipstick.

It removed the famous-pain-in-the-ass-to-remove Majorlica’s Mascara in two efficient swipes!

Makeup Remover for Eye & Lip

I must admit, I had a super bad experience with one of the oil cleansers (I didnt bring my make up remover againnnn and had to use someone’s that was lying around) and I was a little wary of this one, especially since it was liquid. I guess i’m just really not good with handling oil based make up removers (Yes, even Fancl’s super popular remover didnt really get my stamp of approval as it stung my eye), plus I’m a regular contact lens wearer and have the habit of removing my make up before my lenses (I know, I know.. Can’t see anything lah if I remove them first!), so I’ve been avoiding oil based make up removers / make up removers with very high oil content ever since!

But this stuff is great. Take a look at my 2nd swipe just using the 2 phase make up remover.

IT REMOVED EVERYTHING IN ONE SWIPE. YES. EVEN MAJORLICA’S MASCARA!

Er but of course, we usually use different pressure on our faces. So just to be sure, use a few more swipes when you’re removing make up on your eyes - you don’t want any gunk lying behind. ^^;;

(Contact lens: Brilliant Blue from FreshLook ColorBlends ; D )

I must say though, it feels much cleaner than some other (not so oily) cleansers I’ve tried.

Usage:
  • Wet a cotton pad with it
  • Swipe off
  • For stubborn mascara, fold it into a quarter or half, and either tilting your head at an angle, and/or looking slightly upwards, press it against ur lashes from the bottom against the eyelid (I usually apply my mascara only from the bottom of my lashes) - hold it there for 2 seconds, and gently swipe upwards. Swipe downwards from the top of your lashes to remove any residue and repeat whichever step that’s necessary till everything comes off, and for lower lashes, just press and swipe downwards.
  • Another method would be to use Q-tips. Soak a Q tip in it, press it against your lashes from the bottom against your eyelid (look upwards!) and roll the Q-tip on your mascara. This way you won’t kill your lashes! I find the Q-tip method a bit slower, while more thorough, so it really depends on how much time you have and what’s available :p
