I love Doctor Who. I've loved Doctor Who for years... but I have to say, I was looking forward to Moffat's take (I love Blink, Girl in the fireplace & Silence in the Library) & am terribly disappointed. I love love loooooved The Doctor's Wife (and while I might be forgetting an episode), I think that's the only one I adored.

And she follows him for so long because... it could be argued that it's is coming from the mentality that she was raised on. She was trained to him for the entirety of when she was really young, and she's still not grown into the River Song that we all know from Series 5, and part of the way into Series 6.
I thought 'Doctor who?' being was hilariously cheesy and fit the bill in regards to 'hidden in plain sight' and 'the oldest question in the universe (which could be a meta-y thing for it being the title of the show's/universe's start back in 1963)'. Plus, there is the thought that- it isn't so much his name- but like... the very essence of who is he is. If that makes any sense.
And the whole deal with the 2000 years vs. 36 years is completely different. Him bringing up his time would have been tacky- especially when Rory's wait was voluntary. The Doctor even offered him a trip with the vortex manipulator to skip the 2000 year wait. Amy's wait on the other hand was entirely involuntary. Not mention- practically solitary confinement with only a computer interface to talk to, and a constant supply of hand-bots that would kill her.
