Icon Goodness

Apr 05, 2006 17:37

I've had quite a creative spree lately, and part of that was spent making some new LJ icons, for myself and for others.  I decided to show them off for people who'd like to use them.  All I ask is that you please give me credit.  Also note that I have a few other icons that I've made, that I'd rather keep for my own personal use.  Please respect ( Read more... )

^_^ I used the text and re-made it with a different font of my own (and background picture), but gave you credit under it. :)

That's fine. I'd been meaning to redo that icon anyway. I wasn't happy with how the text turned out, but then, it's the first time I tried using highlighted text inside a GIF.

Nice ^_^ I usually like to use a small pixel type font so its easy to use, Font color White, and I use the "outer glow" function in photoshop, setting the glow to Normal, 100% opacity, and spread to 100% and width (pixel) to 1, so it forms a perfect, 1 pixel border around all the letters. :) Great for any type of background.

If you'd like the PSD file (if you use photoshop, or paintshop pro) I'll gladly send it, so you can modify it however youd like. ^^

Ah, unfortunately I haven't installed many fonts on here, except for the defaults. Curious, what font is that? I use GIMP, but it can read PSD files. Just looking for a good font now to redo it.

Here ya go, I use 2 main fonts in my icons (You have to use em both at multiples of 8, or they look nasty, because they are pixel bitmap fonts, so 8, 16, 32, 64 are fine, but anything more or less makes it look nasty.

And the icon (I used the Silkscreen for this icon, it has both Capital and Small letters, the 04b_21 is all caps, so depends on what you wanna use):

Take care ^_^ Hope they help. :)

Eep, think I got the wrong one. The silkscreen font link you gave me doesn't have lowercase letters. D'oh! *giggle*

Whoops! So sorry! ^_^ The 04b_21 one isn't a very good one, I have another one called 04b_03 and its the one I used (easy to mix up the names lol)

I quick copied it directly from my font directory for ya. :) Its the one I used. (Silkscreen was used for "GOD's Signature" at the bottom of the icon, but 04b_03 was used for the rest of the text.)

There ya go ^_^ Sorry for the mixup, Ignore the _21 one.

*hugs* You're welcome. :) Glad I could help ^^

Yay, new version up! Thanks again, hon. :) I actually used a different font, but your PSD file helped me figure out how to remove some of the other nitpicks I had with my original icon. I'm sure these fonts will definitely be handy for future icons though. *huge huggle!*

You're very much welcome. Looks great! :) ^_^

Hehe, yeah I always needed a really small font, that looked clear even at its smallest size (8point) And after finding those 2, they definitely did the job.

*more huggles* ^_^ Take care. Keep it up with the great icons! :)
