So Alicia (my coworker from my previous post,) apparently just doesn't get it.
On Fridays, I usually open at 8 AM, and, if there aren't any appointments in the afternoon, I can leave at 1 PM. If there are any, I must stay until all the appointments are done with.
Well, this past Friday we had two appointments in the morning, and a drop-off (a cat.) After Dr. Leif examined the drop-off, I assumed I could leave. So I went to the office to grab my purse and say my goodbyes to Dr. Leif for the day. He asks me to please stay and "hang out" for a while, since he thinks we may need to do some additional treatment for the drop-off. OK, fine. However, it's 2:00 and I haven't had a lunch break yet. So I ask Dr. Leif if it's ok that I go and buy myself some lunch, since I didn't bring a lunch with me (I normally do, but not on my short days.)
During my lunch, I ask Dr. Leif what we are going to do with the cat-are we doing blood work, euthanasia? Before he could answer me, Alicia said to me "I think he wants you to stay so we can have a meeting and clear the air a bit." I say to her "clear what up?" So she gave me a stupid smirk and says "some stuff."
OK-I know what's up. I'm not dumb. Let me tell you something Alicia-nothing needs clearing up IMHO.
In the last two months, both Dr. Leif and I have been more than accommodating for you.
*How many employers would pay for their employees' injury and hospital bills out of pocket? Oh yea, and how many would also rent medical equipment to make it easier for you around the office?
*How many employers would allow their employees' to take off 2 weeks? Then sit around and pretty much do nothing when you come back to the office?
*How many employers buy their employee lunch almost every other day, if not everyday, out of pocket?
*How many employers give their employee an advance on their pay check just because "they're low on rent?"
*How many employers allow their employee to run a pet sitting service outside of the office, when we offer pet boarding? You basically are our competition.
*How many employers let their employee get away with arriving to work late by several hours, multiple times, and not fire them?
*How many employers actually put up with their employees' defiance? If an office's policy is that you must take an hour lunch break, and you only take 20 minutes every time, that is grounds for a write up or even termination.
Now, that's all Dr. Leif. Let's point out what I have let you get away with:
*How many coworkers go out of their way and work over time every week for close to two months? Yea, the paycheck is great, but I have a family and home too. I could've asked Dr. Leif to hire someone temporarily to help me, but I did all of my work and yours with little to no help, and did not complain once to him. I have not had a weekend free in all this time until now. Because of you, I had to miss both my sister and cousin's graduation from college.
*How many coworkers put up with having to ALL OF THE WORK? Even before your slip and fall, I did all the cleaning, walking, laundry, dishes, etc. I would never say to someone "I'm waiting for you to do it."
*How many people would tolerate your ill attitude towards them? When you told me the house cat was "meowing to tell me to fuck off," I know you were actually projecting your dislike towards me. I didn't say a word to you or Dr. Leif.
Now, when an office only has 3 employees, why should there be two managers? I didn't ask to be the manager. I only assume I was given the position by default and seniority. Plus, the fact that I'm certified and actually know what I'm doing might be an indication. And, just because Sef told you that you could be the manager, doesn't mean it was necessarily going to apply, because guess what? She no longer works there! DUH!
So Alicia, it's my turn to tell you to Fuck off. If a client asks for you, I wouldn't snap at them and say "Alicia's not the only employee here!" like you did when someone asked for me. I would politely say "I'm sorry, Alicia is unavailable at the moment, but is there any way I can help you?"
Also, I recommend trying to keep your ego in check. Why hasn't Dr. Valentine asked you to be the ER tech? Hmm. I don't know, maybe it's because you can't do any of the following:
*draw blood
*read any lab results, let alone know how to set them up
*intubate
*catheterize both IV and Urinary
*administer fluids IV
*administer and monitor anesthesia
*Measure for XRays
*use proper medically terminology
Plus, you take crappy medical histories. So hmm, during an emergency, you kind of need to know how to do all of the aforementioned stuff. Just knowing how to use our Computer system isn't going to get you very far. Plus, an emergency is not the time for you to "learn." You kind of need to know how to do it already.
So all in all, GTFO and DIAF, once again.
