Summer Vacation

Tuesday, June 11

So it was my new years resolution to write in here more. Oops. However, I would like to make a commitment to document my summer vacation activities. Partially to keep myself accountable for actually DOING something.

Vacation started on saturday, so now i'm on day 4.

Day 1: absolutely lazy but in a good way. Watched TV. Played with the dogs. Read my book. It was lovely.

Day 2 & 3: went on 1st wedding anniversary trip to a B&B in Rocheport, MO. It was very nice. Great food, relaxing time, jacuzzi tub, bike riding on the Katy Trail. Loved it.

Day 4: i went to yoga this morning and I'm going wine tasting with candace and kim this afternoon. However, it is Tuesday, and i'm micromanaging my time. Tuesday is read professional books day.

I'm starting with "Teaching With Poverty in Mind: what being poor does to kid's brains and what schools can do about it". I'm going to use this journal to also summarize what I have learned from my reading this summer.

Pgs 1 - 7
What is poverty? Persons whose income is not sufficient to purchase basic needs - food, shelter, clothing, and other essentials.
There are different types: situational, generational, absolute, relative, urban, and rural.
