Dear Yuletide Author,
First of all, I would like to thank you for writing this story for me. I hope my fandoms, the characters, and my preferences will inspire you and not create too much of a hassle. With that being said, I'll tell you what I like to read in the particular fandoms that I have requested (and afterward, I'll tell you some overall fanfic preferences and avoidances at the bottom):
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
In this particular fandom, my favorite character is Prince Adam. I'll read anything about him as long as he's not too OCC. I suppose I should mention that I love the Filmation version of He-Man more than the MYP version, but I'll read both. The thing I enjoy reading and writing about the most is Adam's relationships with his family and friends (mostly his family). On my prompt, I only requested Adam and Adora (obviously I love crossover episodes and specials with She-Ra), but I love his interactions with King Randor, Queen Marlena, Man-At-Arms, and Teela, as well. So, anything that deals with some kind of familial issue is great. It can be a happy story or an angst-filled story (as long as it works out in the end)--it doesn't matter! I'm sure to love it. Just make sure Adam's the protagonist and I'm happy, LOL. In case you want to venture into the romance department, my favorite pairing is Adam/Teela, but I do enjoy Randor/Marlena, as well.
She-Ra: Princess of Power
As you can probably guess from above, in this particular fandom, my favorite character is Adora, unless Adam shows up and then it's him. Like above, I love reading about the relationships Adora has with her family, especially Adam. With that being said, I don't mind if stories venture into Adora's relationships with Hordak and Shadow Weaver since they had a significant hand in raising her. I even wrote a story where Adam got an inkling that she still loved Hordak and Adam questioned whether she had let Hordak go intentionally. That's not to say you have to write a story like that, haha. It might be cool, though. I would be happy again with a fluffy familial story or an angst-filled story, like with MOTU's prompts. Oh, and if you wanted to throw MOTU Eternian characters in there, that's fine with me, too. I'm sure to love it no matter what. Oh, and as for the romance department, I don't really have any specific couples that I like. I did like the episodes where certain Etherian heroines showed an interest in Adam or He-Man. In "The Eldritch Mist," Castaspella showed a big interest in Adam. In "Just the Way You Are," Glimmer showed an interest, and of course, no one can forget Frosta's obsession with He-Man in "Sweet Bee's Home." Just keep in mind that I generally prefer Adam/Teela, but I don't mind some competition for Adam's affections if you want to have a little romance in the story. Out of just the Etherian ladies, I prefer Casta, but I don't mind Glimmer. Frosta's kind of too desperate for He-Man's attentions, haha. As for Adora and a love interest, I don't really have a preference, but I'll probably say Sea Hawk since I do prefer that stories stick to canon as much as possible. I don't read much romances focused on her, though.
Frankenstein--Mary Shelley
I'm a literature teacher. With that being said, one of my all-time favorite novels is Frankenstein. In my AP Literature course, we just finished reading it and my discussions in that class this year (and last year) inspired me to nominate and request this fandom. My favorite character is Victor Frankenstein. Yes, I'm sympathetic towards the monster, but I am for Victor, as well. I suppose you could venture into the familial realm if you wanted to and Victor could accept his creation as a "son." You could even go the angst route and have the monster yearn for Victor to at least be his father if he won't make him a companion. The thing that interested me and my students recently, however, was Ernest Frankenstein. He sort of fades away into the background, doesn't he? He's the only Frankenstein to survive! What if the monster didn't kill himself at the end of the novel and Ernest discovers his brother's secret as well as the monster? What would be the result? It's an intriguing idea, I think. BUT anything with Victor and his usual angsty self will be great. Again, if you go into romance, I ship the conventional Victor/Elizabeth. So, have fun if you pick this one!
Beauty and the Beast (TV 1987)
I love the characters Catherine and Vincent equally. In fact, I love it when they're together the most. Yes, I definitely "ship" their relationship. My favorite episodes of this series are the ones when Catherine is in some kind of danger and Vincent saves the day OR the Elliot Burch drama-filled episodes. I especially loved the episode "Ozymandias" when Catherine was going to marry Elliot to save Vincent's world and it simply tore him up inside that she was giving up so much to protect him. In fact, I love any episode where some guy tries to get Catherine's attention, too, such as the episodes "Down to a Sunless Sea" and "A Fair and Perfect Knight." Obviously, my favorite (and only) pairing in this fandom is Vincent/Catherine. Oh, I guess I should say, however, that I ignore that season three ever happened. I don't like that Catherine died, so I hope you can ignore it, too, if you pick this one, LOL!
Fanfic Likes and Dislikes
As I already stated, I love fics that focus on relationships, whether it's family, friends, or romance. I don't mind a good action-packed story, but I like some of the character-driven things that I've mentioned above to be woven into it, as well. I love angst as well as happy stories. I also like general and pairing stories. Also, I don't care what rating you give it. If you want to write Yuleporn (I heard that's what they're calling it this year), go for it (as long as it's with the pairings that I like, haha). I'll read it all, so do as you wish. =)
As for dislikes, I don't like main character deaths. I don't mind them getting hurt mentally or physically as long as we have a happy ending, haha. I'm also not big on threesomes and unconventional "shippings" with characters, like Orko/Teela. There are a few unconventional pairings that I do like, but overall, I stick to what canon does or at least hints at. I also like my character's relationships to stay intact. In other words, I don't mind it getting rocky with lots of conflict, but as long as it works out at the end, I'm good. ;)
Well, I hope you have fun writing whatever story suits your fancy. Just keep in mind that these are preferences, but I know you in no way have to adhere to them and that's okay. I'll read anything that has a decent plot, so I know I'm going to enjoy it!
Again, thank you so much for writing in one of these fandoms and for me! =)
