Yesterday, two of my co-workers told me they had no idea who was running for president other than Obama, but they were GOING TO VOTE for Obama nevertheless.
I know a lot of people claim that Obama gets a "race" vote with a sneer, but with my co-workers, that is the sad case. I asked them what they liked about him, his policies and his plans for the country and they couldn't list a single thing he had done. When I asked them had they even looked at the other candidate, they told me no, they didn't need to, because Obama is black.
What... WHAT... race has nothing to do with your ability to be president, enforcing fair policies, being a good diplomat. Selecting a candidate on race alone just shocks me. If you haven't even looked at the other guy or given him a chance to speak how can you be certain that you wouldn't like him more? What if all his plans sound good and make sense to you and he has a good head and direction he is going.
Let me be clear in this post about something. I do not like Mitt Romney nor do I plan to vote for him, BUT I have given him a chance. I listened to him when he was campaigning to get the Republican nomination. I listened to him debate other Republicans. I watched him visit schools and tell Americans what his plan were, and I RESEARCHED what he said to see if his voting record and history matched what he was saying, but MOST importantly, I listened to him. I gave him a chance.
Giving somebody a race vote is almost as bad as giving them a religious vote. What the hell is wrong with the citizens of this country when they won't even take the time to learn the name of the men running for president, BUT they can tell you nearly every contestant that got eliminated off American Idol?
