Okay, so. With all the excitement that's been building over the last week or so, there seems to be an unreasonable amount of negativity coming along with it. And that just won't do! So here's what I propose:

Tony really thought this one, with the giant world-eating alien and the fighting and the Fantastic Four practically sacrificing themselves, was going to be the last one, the big one, the one that finally put him down forever. Waking up to Steve, ridiculous poster boy Steve with hair mussed and his armour torn and smudges of soot and blood on his face, hovering over him like that first time feels like some kind of blessing.
Tony's never been good at doing things in normal human ways instead of strange Tony ways so he sits up too fast, grabs Steve's face and smacks a jubilant kiss on his mouth. Steve's expression is a picture, and not just because the top of the Iron Man helmet had banged against his head, and Tony will treasure it for always. Hulk picks him up while Steve's mouth opens and shuts a few times, no words coming out.
"Don't sweat it, Cap," Tony says, clapping him on the shoulder grinning. "Just put it down as another one of those weird things I do that make no sense to you."
Steve shakes his head and pulls him into a hug that would probably be crushing if it weren't for the Iron Man suit and Tony pats him on the back half-heartedly.
"I'd like it if you didn't do that any more," Steve says, his words encompassing the whole battle.
"Is it the kissing thing?" Tony asks as Steve pulls back. Steve punches him on the shoulder and shakes his head again, smiling.
"It's the trying to sacrifice yourself without telling anyone what you're doing thing," Steve says.
"I'll have JARVIS make a note," Tony says, smiling back. "JARVIS -"
"Already noted, sir," JARVIS says and Tony can tell by the look on Steve's face that JARVIS had fed his voice through the external speakers.
"What about you, big guy," Tony says, turning to Hulk. "You want some of this action?"
Hulk snorts and slaps him hard enough on the back to make him stumble forward a few steps. Which is basically Hulk for 'no way in hell'. Tony laughs. It's good to be alive.

Clint still has nightmares. The reason Natasha knows this is very simple: 3 nights out of 7 in any given week she wakes to him perched on the end of her bed, legs curled up under him, bow over his lap and eyes on the door. Watching. Waiting. Protecting, even though he knows she never needs it. That's why she likes him, after all, and why he's her partner.
He hadn't been prepared for what Loki made him do, not like she'd been made to be prepared for what she'd done, there's nothing built into him to shut it off, shut it down, all the things he'd seen and done. Not that it matters. Natasha knows that nothing really works in the face of that. Her ledger's red with blood.
She crawls forward across the bed and kneels behind him, wrapping one arm around his chest (under his arms, not restricting his movement, she learnt that lesson the first night) and trailing the hand of the other over his short hair. She presses a kiss on the crown of his head then leans her forehead there, breathing with him.
"Does it get better?" he asks after a long moment, the first time he's spoken. Natasha lifts her head.
"No," she says, stroking her hand down the back of his head again. "But it gets easier to put it away when it counts."
Clint nods like that's what he expected her to say. She leans against him again and listens to the silence.
They stay that way until dawn.

Thor has been to Europe, to fetch Jane Foster back from Norway and see Doctor Selvig home, and brought back some European customs with him. Bruce hears about it vaguely, on one of the many occasions Tony wanders into his lab and talks at him, but nothing really registers. Not important.
(Tony's chatter is soothing, actually, which no-one else can understand. It's because Bruce knows that Tony's chatter is just a cover for the constant whirring machinery of his brain, inventing things and imagining a better future, there's no time to control his mouth. Bruce likes it.)
Doctor Foster comes to introduce herself, another scientist Tony has taken it upon himself to fund, and they fall into a lengthy discussion about her work on reconstructing the Asgardian bridge from Earth's end. She's even smarter than Bruce had heard and her mind shifts as quickly as Tony's, it's almost beautiful watching her breathe her ideas into life.
Apparently it's two hours later when Thor arrives to collect Jane ("Call me Jane, please, we'll probably be working together after all."), they'd lost track of time. Thor is trailed by a short woman with dark hair and a wide smile and Jane very nearly knocks her over in her enthusiasm to hug her.
"Doctor Banner!" Thor says, spreading his arms as he approaches. Bruce opens his mouth to say hello but is thwarted as Thor grabs him firmly by the shoulders and kisses him once on each cheek.
"That's what Tony meant," Bruce says, instead of hello, while Thor beams at him.
"I like this custom," Thor says, waving a hand through the air. "I may introduce it to Asgard. Many things are improved by kissing."
"Many things," Bruce agrees, rubbing at his cheeks where Thor's beard had scratched them. Thor claps him on the back and grins.
"You will come drink with us this evening?" Thor asks, waving at the two women. "Lady Darcy says that is the correct way to celebrate my return to this realm."
"Maybe," Bruce says, lifting his shoulders in a shrug.
"I will see you then!" Thor says, as if he's agreed, and Bruce smiles ruefully as Thor strides from the room, Jane and Darcy following behind him.
Well. Maybe Bruce can do with a drink. He has all the time in the world for science, now.
(More as I think of them. And suggestions for pairings, as such, are more than welcome. I just feel like writing a lot of platonic kissing.)

Needs moar Cap! Although I can't think of a situation where Cap would kiss someone platonically. Challenge?
