Operation: California Move

Jan 06, 2015 22:38

So we're in a new year, and this year I have but just one goal...move myself to Sacramento, California! I'm setting my plan into motion as we speak and have a few of my objectives completed:

1. Obtain minivan for move...done as of December 8th (long story short, I lost the Sapphire Vixen back in November, through no fault of my own, and had to reacquire a vehicle, and I choose a minivan to accommodate my cross country move, thus my acquisition of a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT dubbed the Titanium Fox...see my last post for a picture)

2. Acquire full time job...right now I'm holding down three jobs with three different driving companies (one school bus and two motorcoach), but I'm leaving the school bus job as soon as business for the motorcoach companies pick up. One motorcoach job I intend to work full time for while the other will be a now-and-then weekend gig for extra cash. Haven't decided which one I like better but when the time comes we will get to that.

3. Move to cheaper place in Illinois...that's nearly done. Soon as I get conformation, I'm out of my old place and into a new one.

4. Save money...my ultimate goal is to get at least $4000 saved up. That'll take care of driving expenses (such as gas and maybe motel rooms if I need to, but if I can, I'd rather sleep in the van), apartment expenses when I get to Sacramento, vehicle registration (this is a big one as vehicle registration in California is not cheap like it is in Illinois) and CDL expenses (if necessary on the CDL part which depends on if the company I eventually get hired onto will provide paid training or not)

5. The actual move...I don't have a time frame of when I'm going to make my move. It al depends on me, but I'd like to be out of Illinois by the end of this year if not sooner. Like I said, it all depends on me.

Updates on this operation will be made throughout the year, so stay tuned to my progress.

That's it for now. Later, folks!
