Okay, usually I try my best to keep my journal as positive and upbeat as I possibly can, but this entry, I'm so sorry to say, carries a lot of sadness to it.
Last night, I received some very devastating news. A very dear friend of mine from Nebraska was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday evening. I met this friend at an Anime con in Kansas City in February of 2011. We roomed together with two other young ladies (one of which was the victim's best friend also from Nebraska). Since our meeting, we met at a few other cons and even roomed together at a few, one of which was her homecon in Omaha where she served as a staff member (in fact, it was her that convinced and encouraged me to attend that con in 2012. We grew very close as con friends and had a lot of fun at the cons we attended together. This news hits me very hard, as the last time I ever saw my friend alive was last year at the Anime con in Omaha. I never got the chance to hang out with her much because of her being on staff for the con, but I am grateful that I did get the chance to see her and hug her again for the last time. As you can tell, this news is hitting me very hard. She was a very good person who was very vibrant, full of life, and very well loved by all that knew her. I only knew her for three years, but it was the best three years I had with this friend. I'm going to miss her terribly.
To my dear friend, Jaci Kehling:
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And that's where you'll always be
I'll remember you always. Be at peace, my dear friend.
