So I went and got this today:
After years of being without a desktop and wanting an iMac, I finally acquired one! Best part is I didn't have to buy brand new. This is 100% used and refurbished!
Here's what we have on my new iMac, named Barracuda:
27" iMac (Late 2011 model)
3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (Sandy Bridge, but I'm not complaining)
16GB RAM (to be upgraded to 24GB later by myself)
1TB HDD (initially I wanted more than 1TB, but hey, I'm good with this)
AMD Radeon HD 6970M (2GB)
Overall, I got the iMac I've always wanted (this particular model because of the optical drive so I won't have to buy a USB one and an AMD graphics card as opposed to an nVidia one). I'm plenty satisfied! Been setting it up all afternoon installing software essential to my everyday needs (Adobe, Microsoft Office, iWork...that sort of thing) and moving files from Stingray to Barracuda (like all my music and movies). Stingray can now function as a laptop and not be on all the time (it'll either be in its satchel or my MLP backpack when I have to carry it to school).
In the meanwhile, Anime St. Louis is this weekend, and I'm also hard at work at preparing for something I've never done before...host a panel! This is new territory for me, as I've always been one to just sit in the audience, but I'm going to give it a try this year by hosting a Littlest Pet Shop panel (in response to the numerous MLP panels that anime cons have hosted thorough out the years and LPS's current rise in popularity). Hopefully it goes well enough and I can expand on it in some way in the future.
Wish me luck!
