The Unexpected Whitecap

Talk about your rough couple of weeks. What started out as a good week last week escalated into a bad week within one day and a matter of hours. We got hit by snow last week, and hit harder than what the local weather people were predicting. Goes to show you how much one can predict the weather, right? Anyway, as usual, I'm on snow call, and last Thursday was the rough one. That's when we got hit. It started out as not really doing much of anything at first. Just some moderate flurries dropping down. But within an hour, it came down as larger snowflakes…and with a vengeance! I had already pretreated my sidewalks with ice melt just in case it was going to be a minor event, but when it started coming down heavier I was left on my own with nothing but a gas powered snow broom to clean off my sidewalks with, and with no effect. It just kept pilling on for hours on end with no end in sight. I managed to get in a lunch break around 2PM, but it didn't last very long as I was back out there once again in the white death, this time at a different property. By then, we were drowning in about four to five inches of snow, and no possible way to control it. Not even our Public Works crews were able to keep this at bay. They were out there plowing and salting streets all day, but nothing that they cleared or laid down had lasted very long. To top it all off, I got stuck in the snow and ice with one of the trucks, in 4X4 mode no less. Hardly no one was able to get around in this mess. And people actually like this weather? For bloody sake!

It was just a long, disastrous, tiring day, and I barely survived it. Thankfully we have no more snow in our forecast…or so they say at least…but my four day weekend is here and I'm spending every moment of it inside, relaxing, and catching up on Skyrim and Sly Cooper. I'm sore in so many places right now I just want to do little to nothing for the next four days.
