First snowfall of the new year...I managed to survive it, but it wasn't easy. We only got an inch to an inch and a half on the ground, but that was still enough to cause a shit ton of road hazards...mainly on the Missouri side. MoDOT really screwed up this time around and let a lot of the roads become ice traps. I barely got to work on time, even though I left a good thirty minutes earlier than normal. I mean, coming out of Illinois was no problem. It was getting through Missouri that was a challenge. Once I did get to work and got started on snow detail, things just got worse. I-64 was literally a parking lot for hours on end. Drivers were stranded for miles on the highway. The roads were so icy that almost every vehicle were sliding all over the hills and inclines that Missouri is infamous for. On the Illinois side, however, things went a lot more smoothly. IDOT were out in droves clearing and salting up roadways. It's a good thing IL is flat for the most part or else conditions would have worsened over here as they did in MO.
I'm glad I got through Thursday, but it was costly. I managed to catch something that made me lose a lot of sleep last night. I only got in two hours before I had to get up and get to work again the next morning. I was surely out of it on the drive, but luckily Marty was gracious enough to let me burn some sick time and head back home. I'm feeling a lot better now, though my body still aches in some spots. Holiday weekend coming up, plus school starts up again next Wednesday. This semester I'm taking up Photo Imaging I: Photoshop as well as Multimedia Applications: Final Cut Pro, which will make stellar use of my new iMac when I finally get it.
Well, I'm going to get to bed now. I have stuff I need to get done tomorrow. Be seeing you all. Laters.
