One of these days I'm going to master the art of the pastels! In my Figure Drawing II class, we're allowed to make use of color in our work, so I pulled out my pastel set that I bought for my final project of Drawing I (I haven't used them since that class). Tonight I got some good use out of them, though I need to learn how to do skin tones. I got a flat color down well enough, but I didn't have enough time to put in some skin tones like I wanted to. Maybe next time when we get into the extremely long poses. I dunno.
Okay, on to other business, for most that don't know, back in July, my cell phone, an HTC HD2 for the record, subsequently died on my after having it for only one year. ONE YEAR! Well, it was a shitty smartphone to begin with. I had problems with it from day one of me owning it...constant freezes and impromptu restarts, plus I had bad signals with it as well (I went up to Chicago for ACen back in May and I had a nightmare and a half getting any kind of signal anywhere there...and it's Chicago for christ sake...you should get really good coverage on any network up there). At any rate, I was ecstatic when it finally bit the dust because it meant now I could get a much better phone. Only problem is my finances have been a bit unstrung what with a miscommunication with my bank on bill pay which lead me to an outrageous electric bill and me still behind on it (which will be cleared up by Friday, by the way). Now I'm kind of torn between whether or not to get the phone that I want with or without a contract extension. Really, I would like to go without an extension because I kind of feel that once I'm done with this contract I'm on, I would much rather switch to a no-contract (or prepaid as it were) carrier since for the most part I get the same features, a decent selection of smartphones (powered by Android no less), and the same amount of coverage as a contract phone but for a much less price. I don't really care that the contract phones are the much nicer phones (because honestly, you're not really paying for the service with those, you're really paying for the phone itself when you really look at it). I can cope with a halfway decent Android phone so long as it serves the purpose that I need it for. However, it's a much cheaper deal if I get the contract extension, which means I sign my life away for two more years. Honestly, when I look back on it now, I should have stuck with Boost Mobile in the first place. They now have Android phones for much less than the big contract carriers do, and they have a shrinkage deal to where if you pay your monthly bill on time for a certain amount of time, the bill goes down from $50 a month to as low as $35 a month. Now that's what I call a deal.
As it stands, I have a lot of thinking to do. It'll be a while before I come to a decision since my move will be at some point this month. I'll think of something. For now, though...later.
