Where've I Been?

I haven't written in this in a while. Let's remedy that.

First off, what have I been doing for the long while? Well, I'll start off with the 4th. Myself and Angie spent it at my parents' house. The day before I took my dad down to Arnold (instead of going straight to St. Charles because the place that he normally goes to no longer exists anymore) to get fireworks. The day of, I picked up Angie and we headed to my parents'. Sasha, of course, was happy to see us and we all ate plenty. Soon as night hit, we shot off fireworks (well, Angie didn't...she's plum terrified of setting off fireworks). The set that we got this year wasn't as good as what we normally got from the place we used to go to, but they were okay to say the least. After we were done, I had to run Angie back home because I unfortunately had to go to work the next day (you can imagine how much I dreaded that).

The next weekend was pretty fun, too. I was planning on going to the Muny (for those that don't know, it's an outdoor musical amphitheater located in the largest park in the city) to see the stage play of the Little Mermaid, but considering I was having her all weekend and she wanted to go too, we decided to both go to the event. We waited in line for the free seats (and yes, there are free seats in the last nine rows to this place for the first 1500 people who get there) and managed to get in after a long line (which I tried to leave early for but failed for undisclosed reasons). I enjoyed the play. It was really good and really funny. We were supposed to go see Singing In the Rain this weekend, but it was too hot this weekend for us to be sitting outside so we skipped out on it.

So what exactly did we do do this weekend? Well, she wanted to introduce me to her ex-boyfriend, with whom she's still friends with by the way, who invited us over to his apartment complex in High Ridge to go swimming. Now, it's been like fourteen years since I've even been in a pool of any sort (even though my current complex has one, I just kind of lost an interest in getting in one for some reason...mostly because I can't swim and all), so I was a little nervous about it. Still, I went along with it. Her ex-boyfriend, Charlie and his current girlfriend, Jen, are cool people, and we just seem to hit it off pretty well. The pool at his place was fairly small and was slightly crowded with women and children, but overall it was some fun times (and I did actually help a little girl get her frisby off the top of a roof, too). I think my only complaint was that the pool was a little bit too heavy on the chlorine. I swear, my skin was dry as hell when I got out of there. After about two or three hours, we got out and headed back to Charlie and Jen's apartment. While he made pork steaks for himself, Jen, and Angie, I divulged into a rice and salmon bowl I made earlier (because I'm not a fan of pork), and we got to watch Born In East L.A. before me and Angie left. So it was a fun day nonetheless.

In other news, it's been a a little over a year since I bought the Steel Vixen (I got her last year on the 10th of this month), and so far, she's still running strong and I've had zero complaints the entire time. That's a first for me. For once, I don't have to make a journal complaining about how my car is screwing up on me a year or so into ownership. We've been on three roadtrips so far: two to Kansas City (one last year, one this year), and one to Chicago, all for Anime cons, which I still attend. My next con will still be in New Orleans at the end of next month. I am so waiting patiently for this roadtrip. It'll be my first time in Louisiana (and Mississippi for that matter), so that will excite me very much.

Oh, and one last thing. This one pertaining to Operation Belleville Move. I know I said I had a place in mind to move to when my lease here in Affton is up, but I've also been looking elsewhere around the city for other potential places. I have a few places in mind that are slightly out of the way, but not too unreasonable in terms of difference. I just don't know what the prices are yet. Since tomorrow all of us at work are working 5/8s as opposed to our normal 4/10s (this due to the major heat wave we're supposed to be getting next week), I'm going to make an attempt to head to Belleville after work to check out my top choice apartment complex (the one next to the drive-in theater) to see what those look like on the inside. Hopefully it won't look too junky or dirty on the inside. The other two places I recently found (for the most part) look like they're nicer places, meaning they're probably on the pricey side (believe me, I can afford up to $600 a month if I wasn't paying a higher car note with a high insurance rate) but I won't know that until I call for pricing. I'm still scouting around the city for other places in the hopes that I can get something that won't go outside my means of living.

That's all I have for now. I'll try to update this more often in the future. Be seeing you guys.
