Ugh, it's been three weeks and I still don't have my car back. This is starting to really piss me off. Okay for those of you that follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you know what's going on. For those that haven't, I'll give you the skinny.
Back on the March 25, the Violet Vixen had a major breakdown. As I was getting off of work that day, I go to my car, and as usual, I tried to start it so I can take off and get to school. Low and behold, the car wouldn't start. After several failed attempts at cranking the key and at one point charging the battery (which was only thirteen months old, mind you), I then called my dad to come and pick me up. He got there about thirty to forty minutes later and I tell him what's going on. We try again to get it started, but to no avail. So the next day, I got up a little earlier than usual being it was my day off, and went back to work for two reasons: 1> to see if I can get her to start again, and 2> if I couldn't get her to start, I could call the service company of the place where I got her from. After a few attempts of the phone rep giving me locations that were in Kansas City for bloody sake, he finally gave me the address to the AMMCO transmission shop in Brentwood which just happened to be a mile and a half away from me. So at that point I called them up and asked if I can get a tow truck sent up here to pick up Vixey and have her towed to their shop. After I hung up, the weight began. Quite literally it took them all day to get to me. I was there from literally 10:00 to about 16:50 when the tow truck finally arrived. He got Vixey hooked up and took her down to the Brentwood AMMCO. There she sat all weekend. I call the shop back on Tuesday to find out what's wrong with her and it turned out that the timing belt broke on me. Hmm, that kind of makes me wonder. I never noticed anything as I was driving up to work that morning she broke down, and she started up just fine and dandy as well. Well with that, I told him that I was a CarHop customer and that in turn prompted him to get in contact with the service department to see if it was covered under my warranty. In the meantime, I got stuck driving my dad's truck yet again, which couldn't have come at an absolute worse time as gas was going up (everytime it went down about 10¢ it shot back up another 20¢).
So a week and a half goes by and I hear nothing back from AMMCO, so one day after work, I went to the shop to find out what the deal was. I was ready for him to tell me that my warranty would not cover it, but instead he tells me that the service department has yet to get back with him. Everytime he tried to contact them, he would never get an actual human on the line but instead an answering machine. So he then tells me that I might have to call them back myself to get the process back rolling again. The next day I do just that, and tell the people that "hey, my car's still sitting there in the shop. What's the deal?" The lady tries to fake me off by saying that AMMCO didn't call them, until then I told her that yes in fact the store manager (the guy I talked to) did in fact leave several messages for you but you all never got back with him. Realizing she couldn't win this one, she then tells me that she'll forward a note for the service department to call them back and we disconnect. That kind of got me wondering. I know that a service department is always quick to tell you that a particular service is not covered by warranty and that you would be immediately on your own. However in the event that a particular service in fact IS covered by warranty, the first thing they do is try to delay getting in touch with the auto shop so they don't actually have to do anything about it, that is until the customer starts to hammer them. So the next week I call AMMCO back and ask them again, what's the deal? The shop manager told me that the service department is in fact covering this under my warranty and that I didn't have to pay anything except for towing (which is really next to nothing considering the distance). So that eased my tension on the matter. Now I'm just waiting on them to get my Vixen finished so I can get back to driving her again. I hate driving my dad's truck. Being it's a 1990 Ford F-150, that thing is hard to keep gas in, especially when you take into consideration that the truck runs off of an I6 engine instead of a V8 which is weird because one would think that a six cylinder engine would do better...but no...it gets the exact same fuel mileage as an F-150 that has a V8. Last time I tried to fuel it all the way up it cost me around $40 (and if I attempted it now, it would be like $60 or more). So yeah, not a fun time for me these past three weeks.
On a brighter note, my birthday and Anime St. Louis are right around the corner. This weekend (including Sunday which is my birthday), I'll be at Anime St. Louis all weekend long. Room's been reserved, and all I have to do is pick up my badge the day of the con. I even put in to have Friday off and got it, so I'll be there early to check out all that's going on.
So that's my update. See you all later.
