General Stuff

Alrighty, time for some general life updates for those that care to read about them.

First off, back in January, I had my one year probationary review which went well in my opinion. Despite some mishaps that happened back in the summer, I pretty much had a good first year with Richmond Heights. I think my biggest improvements came during this year's snow season. I remember last year I was late for a lot of snow calls, but that was mainly because I still roaming around in the Crimson Vixen (you know, that stupid Ford truck that I had a laundry list of complaints about). With the Violet Vixen, however, the commute to work in snow is much more easier thanks to her nice Traction Control System that pretty much kept me from spinning her wheels on ice half of the time. So, that was good.

I never mentioned this back in December, but I did get my grades from both of my art classes from last semester, and...they were both Bs. I'm kind of bummed on that one because I worked my hardest in both of those classes, but it all came down to is overly critical teachers. I think the majority of both of my classes ended up with Bs with maybe one or two As given out. So yeah, pretty bummed on that one but at least my GPA didn't suffer too badly. My graphic arts classes are going really well, though. I'm making better progress with these two than I am with the traditional art ones. Maybe digital art is more of my calling than traditional art. I don't know. I still have a lot of exploring to do. Still, so far, I'm favoring the digital art classes more than I am the traditional art. That's not to say I'm done with traditional art. I still have more classes in that section that I have to take, including Figure Drawing, which I'm greatly anticipating on taking because it's humanistic figures that I want to draw the most, not still life like I was in Drawing I. I still have a ways to go, but I'm slowly but surely working to what I want to do, so I guess that's a good thing. My only question is what is there afterwards. Will I go out and find a job with my AAS, or will I continue on to get my Bachelor's, and if that's the case, then where will I want to go? I'd like to go somewhere else to get a Bachelor's, but if I absolutely have to stay in St. Louis, well, I do have one option that I can do, just as long as it will still be available when I do get out of St. Louis Community College. That brings up another question about STLCC. That being: will I continue taking all of my classes at Forest Park or will I instead take the remaining ones at Meramec? On one hand, Meramec has the absolute best facilities of the four STLCC campuses (and I don't know if I can vouch for Wildwood since I have yet to venture out that way). Their computer art lab is top notch with Mac Pro computers which are the best Mac computers on the market vs. Forest Park's graphic design lab which is still stuck on last gen iMacs and printers that barely work half of the time. On the other hand, though, I've been at the FP campus for a long while now, and there is that sense of attachment that I have with them. Time will tell I guess.

Well, that's all from me. I have to get going. Late.
