MvA Syndrome!!!

I just got back from an outing with my ex-roommate and closest friend sacredpsycho. We went to Ronnies to see Monsters vs. Aliens. She wanted to see it so bad but squirrel_rapist (her husband for those that don't know) didn't want to. He said it wasn't his kind of movie to go to, so she asked me if I wanted to see it instead, and I said, okay. So we got there, ordered our tickets, went to the concession stand to get stuff before going into the showroom. Funny thing at the counter. We go up, the one clerk shows up at the register, takes Michelle's order for a medium soda, then just as I get ready to order what I wanted, the douche walks off! So I'm standing there for like two or three minutes trying to get popcorn and a soda (because I can never go to the theater and not order popcorn...it's one of my instincts), then Michelle asks one of the girls that was sweeping behind the corner to get the guy back to the counter. Finally he comes back, and I get my stuff, and we both go and grab a pair of 3D glasses and get seated.

While we were waiting for the film to begin, we were just going back and forth about how god awful the music that was playing before the opening previews. It was so bad that she literally asked me at one point if she could lay down on the ground face first and have me stomp her head into the ground until she died! Don't worry. I declined on that (this is the type of things the two of us like to gloat about...I know, we're horrible like that). So, finally, the previews start, and there were a few of them that actually looked interesting. I especially liked the one preview for the moive "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs! That one we had to look at with the 3D glasses on, and it looked pretty funny! I thought it was going to be pretty stupid at first, but it literally caught my attention.

So, after watching all the previews, the movie started, and like five or ten minutes into the movie was our first spot of laughter. There was a lot more in store as the movie just got funnier and funnier. It amazed me that as many children that were in the theater, we didn't hear a lot of laughter from them. And I was kind of expecting to walk right into a pure "kiddie" sort of like movie, but it seriously surprised me that there was much more adult humor in this movie than I thought! I think this Monsters Vs. Aliens was more or less written a bit more for the adults than for the kids, and believe me, that's not a bad thing. There are just things in the movie you have to see for yourself, and I don't want to bring anything up so as not to spoil it. Overall, I loved it. It was brilliant. And, suffice it to say, I think both myself and Michelle have become Ginormica fantards (I think myself a little more)!

I'm going to see MvA again in two weeks, on the weekend of my birthday, but this time, I'm going to see it in IMAX 3D. Seriously, if you guys haven't seen this one yet, GO SEE IT! I guarantee you will love it! And if you can, see it in 3D! Trust me, it would make watching it a lot better!
