Okay, so for the past month or so, the Vixen has started to crap out on me, and I think once I know when I go full time at work, I'm going to try to start saving for a new truck (not a brand new one...just a used one).
Here are the problems that I'm plagued with on my truck as it stands:
1. Starting and idling. When I go to start the Vixen up, she'll idle for about five or ten seconds before either a) the RPMs drop and the battery meter drops to either at or below eight volts and she tried to jump back to idle speed again or b) the engine just completely shuts off, and I would have to turn the key again to get her started (and this happens close to five or six times before she finally stays on, OR I would have to turn the key several times in order to get the engine to turn over). Note that a near new battery and a brand new alternator are installed in her.
2. Engine oil. It seems like two months from an oil change, she has no engine oil in her and I never know about it until I take her in for her three month PM. I've been normally going to Jiffy Lube to have PM service done, but I think that's been doing more harm than good since they're always trying to get me to spend more than what I initially want to spend on (I'm sure you all recall the last PM I did on her cost me close to $300). The next PM, which will be tomorrow, she's going to the Ford dealership down the road from me.
3. Steering problems. For the fourth time, I've been having a problem with my steering. As I go down the road, I keep the steering wheel in its normal straight position, and Vixey veers to the right slightly. I put her in reverse, and she races to the left nearly all the way. I thought the last time I got that looked at, the problem was all good and gone, but it just keeps happening, and I never know why!
4. Fuel economy. Needless to say that with her 3.0L V6 engine, I get really crappy fuel economy out of her, and I always end up losing more fuel over trying to get her started, seeing as how I have to sometimes keep turning the key several times to start her.
I swear, this is what I get for buying a Ford. You always here that Ford's cars suck monkey balls, but you know what? Even their trucks suck, too! I mean, I haven't even had her for a year and a half, and already she's wanting to kill over. That's just God awful. Well, the next truck I end up buying is definitely going to be foreign...between the Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier (preferably the Frontier because I kind of like Nissan better). That's the last time I ever buy a Ford again. I might settle for a GM, but Ford and Dodge...no thank you, Jose!
So I have one new rule to add to my Cardinal Vehicle Rules:
1. No Automatics
2. NO FORDS!!!
