I don't know how many of you heard the vocal post I left (really) earlier this morning, but I'll just reiterate what that was about.
This morning around 02:20 at work, the fire alarm went off in the building. I'm working Pets when this happens. The big buzzer and the flashing lights started blaring throughout the whole building, and my first reaction was to get to the fire exit right away. But as I'm doing this, who so dumbly decides to try to tell everyone that "there's no fire in the building...it's just a false alarm...everybody keep working" when the alarm goes off? Amber, our team lead. I don't know what her problem is, but safety procedures state that when the fire alarm goes off, false alarm or no, drop what you are doing and head to the nearest fire exit. But no, she wanted us to keep on working and let God knows what kill us all. Well, it turned out that something in the water pump room set the alarm off. Not sure exactly what, but that's why it went off. But still, it took seven minutes (including one minute after the alarm goes off) to get everyone together and get them out of the damn building. SEVEN DAMN MINUTES!!! And to top it all off, Amber didn't do her job right on the outside of the building, either. When we're out there, she's supposed to do a head count and make sure everyone who's scheduled to be on the clock is present and accounted for, and by far, only one person was missing, and the dumb bitch just shrugged off her responsibility like it's nothing. At the time I made the vocal post, there were three fire trucks outside the building trying to figure out what the hell was going on in there. After all was said and done and nothing happened, we all went back inside and had a quick huddle to discuss the matter. Needless to say, we were all pissed off at the entire incident. I mean, Amber literally created a safety hazard for all of us, and even at the huddle, her smiley and giddy ass used that lame excuse as before, and I quote "in my defense, I wasn't sure if there was a fire in the building or not." Everyone got on her case about it in the worst kind of way. Oh I hope she gets reprimanded for this or something. I'm going to take this up with Tami (the Store Team Lead...IOW, the one who runs the store) if I have to, and if no one else has. She seriously needs to face dire consequences for this. And I have one more night of working with her? *growls*
Somebody give me a hug, please. That experience scared the hell out of me, badly.
