Scion Rules Tweaks

So I am thinking about running a more long term game of Scion, but as shown by my few runins with my peusdo-one shots a couple of things need to change.  Here are some ideas.

Balance
  • Dex should become less important. Ideas:
    • Perception for all non-thrown range weapons
    • Strength for thrown weapons and can be used for brawl (or with trait for a particular weapon)
    • Dex for melee weapons and can be used for brawl
  • Create social defense and mental defense stat.
    • Social:
      • (Manipulation + Presence)/2 + Epic Manipulation
      • Attacks meant to embarrass (or otherwise socially get the better of) go against social defense
    • Mental:
      • (Wits + Integrity)/2 + Epic Wits
      • Attacks meant to confuse (or distract) go against mental defense
    • Using a Willpower Point to shake off a mental or social demanded action (Blurt It Out for example) is a 5 tick action (tacked on the end of the last action someone took). Thus expensive in combat, but outside of combat still reasonable.


Flow
  • Movement based upon Spirit of the Century
    • Fights should be broken out into zones
    • Players can move 1 zone in 1 tick
    • Athletics checks can be made to move more than 1 zone
    • Lightning sprinter can move 2 zones (or 4 with athletics check)
    • Zones can require checks to cross
    • Can melee anyone in zone, but must range across zones
  • Charging - Players can move and attack before some can react (unless they are guarding) by adding 1 tick to the attack they intend to do.
  • Combats going too long
    • Remove Legend from Defense (makes parrying better)
    • Make Untouchable Opponent add Legend for a total defense action (like guard) for 1 legend for up to 5 ticks then need to respend.
    • Automate Soak same as Defense?
      • Bashing: Stamina plus Epic Stamina
      • Lethal: Stamina/2 plus Epic Stamina
      • Aggravated: Epic Stamina

I guess this is mostly directed at DJ, but anyone who has some input please feel free to provide.
